OK, Mr Dude here your chance.

Lets see how he answers these.

    1. Low weekly miles

    2. New drivers get more miles then seasoned ones

    3. Can't reach dispatcher at night

    4. this company will go to anymeans to get you into orientation when i was up there they must of sent most of the guys home

    5. Or lied to u and said the account was full but that had an opening in a over the road position

    6. They sent me to orientation, which consisted of a bossy guy ranting for a few hours, and lots of charts, graphs and the standard 1970s safety videos. When they got to the part about slip seating trucks, I called them on it, said their recruiter told me they didn't slip seat trucks. The "recruiter" turned out to be a manager posing as a recruiter, since they were behind on recruits

Tip I gave him a couple from reading the boards lets see how he answers them and if I have to apologize to you or not?

Let's have other people lay out some legimate questions to him not attacks and see how he handles them.

    1. Driver arguing with the dispatcher seems to be the biggest thing there. Or they're doing something they're not supposed to be doing, because i've been hearing that a lot recently too. Honestly, I can't say for sure because the dispatchers work in the other building on the campus in Lowell.

    2. I haven't heard about that one yet, you're the first. and I can't explain it.

    3. Your (as in the one you're assigned to) dispatcher probably works during the day, and it is my understanding that we have a nighttime crew as well, to shore up the other hours of the night/early morning.

    4. Now, I don't do that. For instance, I had a gentleman set up for Louisville orientation. I've answered every concern he's posted to me (and we actually got him into a different position that what was originally scheduled, because he ASKED ABOUT IT.) Well, I'm gonna wait a few days to call him back, because as it turned out, his father had a heart attack. And I was more than gracious in letting him go home and watch over his father. As for the sent home thing: More or less it's guys who didn't file their Verification Release before they got to orientation, or that the companies we called for your experience wouldn't call us back until the 2nd day of orientation, or that we'd have to cancel because of the no call. Or they had a criminal record that they never told us about.

    5. I have heard of that. They expect us to get a couple extra applications in on some positions because, and no offense to any of you, drivers are notorious for NOT SHOWING FOR ORIENTATION. We order their transportation and hotel and everything is set, but they don't show.

    6. The only reason one would slip-seat on an OTR position is if they take 4+ days off at a time. Otherwise, if it's dedicated or such, depends on what the job description says. I won't deny that somewhere in every company (and yes, even ours) that there are some underhanded people. Personally, I strive not to be one.

    Anyone else?

I'm just catching up on this thread, I've been busy lately, but didn't Mr. Dude sign up stating he was a J.B. Hunt recruiter? So, I don't see him as trying to quietly slip in, secondly as long as he attempts to stay honest I'll listen. I grew up with my Uncle being so anti-JB Hunt it's not funny. Aparently they jacked him somehow. I remember him and my mom talking about it, but I was too young to understand.

You don't have to apologize to me. I have the truth to back me up, after all.

JB JobHunt is the one who should be apologizing.......to about 10,000 ex-JB drivers.

No matter if JB JobHunt becomes a great company in the future or not, we here will know that company was built on the backs of a lot of folks who were done wrong.

Personally, I would love to answer these questions being that Ive drove for JB Hunt for a little over 14 years.

    1. Low weekly miles? I average about 28OO/week. I wouldnt call that low. I call that acceptable to me. JB isnt really a long haul company. Its more of a medium long haul company. Probably 95% of our freight is east from texas, so those coast to coast long runs just dont happen.

    2. I think im pretty seasoned after 14 years. FMs will give you the miles availiable miles they think you can handle. If your miles drop its probably because you did something to make the FM think you cant handle it. Or maybe you just smarted off to him one too many times.

    3. Doesnt seem to be a problem.

    4. I do hear this quite a bit. I guess the best way to explain this is, if you were sent home you werent the type of driver they were looking for. Whose fault is that? Maybe it was your driving record, maybe you failed a drug test. Maybe you didnt disclose everything. I dont know about the rest of you drivers, but I know everything that is on my MVR. Maybe you should have disclosed that before filling out the application.

    5. I have asked about this one myself. It was explained to me pretty well. Jobs get filled, you have to keep the customers happy and the feight moving. Not having a driver for an account would be a quick way to lose that account, wouldnt it? So I would think it would be a first come first would get the job type thing. You snooze you lose would be an accurate quote for this situation.

    6. Wow, they are using the same videos they had when I started? Cool. The only drivers I know that have to slip seat are a few drivers on dedicated local lanes. Daycabs. I used to have to slipseat back in the cabover days, but havent done it for years. That policy changed long long ago.

    7. I will add something since I saw it asked on the same thread. Layover pay. Yep, I dont get weekend layover pay. It really doesnt bother me. I little smart planning and you can avoid getting stuck on the weekend most of the time. But sure it happens rarely. No biggie really. I use that time to be productive, not negative.

Guys, it comes down to this. Not every company is for every driver. We have 1000s and 1000s of very happy drivers over here and they do very well. Im one of them. The big boys always have the most complaints about them. They have the most drivers. What is never mentioned is the big boys have the highest number of happy drivers too. I will never say we are perfect or the best driving job in the world. I dont think that job exists. Heck, I have gotten really angry and quit 100s of times. I just dont tell anyone and I end up going back to work when my hometimes is over..lol. Personally, I have been treated really well here. You could never convince me that I made the wrong choice. I will retire in a few years very well off because of JB Hunt stock in my 401k. When you add in all the money that has made, it equates to a 6 figure a year job. For that, I am greatful. I would never tell any driver that he has made the wrong choice in a company. In my many years driving, ive seen drivers do great at almost all companies. So make fun of me driving slow, call me names on the CB for driving for JB, and heckle me in the truck stop parking lots. Those immature CB rants wont hurt my feelings. Who knows? I might answer back and mention my handle (Right4Christ) and offer a challange to those hecklers such as, "Lets compare paychecks and money in our 401Ks and see who has the better job. Could be fun"

Right4Christ I don't and never have applied or worked for JB, I took those questions direct from post on this site about JB. I'm the one kinda defending the JB hunt recruiter. Just trying to give him a fair chance.

Are you or have you ever been a driver? If so, how long and for who?

Your a recruiter, that's been said, and it's obvious by this these answers to questions - you really don't know what happens to these guys after you get them signed on and in a classroom. 30 in, 30 out - that should be JB's motto. I was nervous when my husband went to drive for them and we found out 30 in a class and the following monday 30 more right behind them. I really wish we would have found this web site before he went there, he's no longer there of course, but the damage is already done. Water under the bridge, so I just move on from here and try and head off any new ones thinking about it.

I think it's great that your here, I only wish you knew some answers for these guys - but like I said - your a recruiter - you do your job and go home every night - please remember these guys/gals your recruiting will not be going home every night, their families will be alone, handling lifes struggles everyday, while their loved ones are out there trying to make a living. Whatever you say to them during your recruiting story will directly affect not only them, but their family too. If you can sleep comfortably at night with the stuff you tell them, then good for you - but are you being honest or just collecting a paycheck? A challenge for you, call 5 people's homes that you have recruited in the past 6 months and see how their doing - don't go on JB's employee list - just pick 5 people that YOU personally spoke to and see if their ok, still at JB, if not, ask why. Either you, or us, maybe surprised with the answer.

You sir lack charactor, and are incapable of speaking the truth. Your feeble attempt at posing as a Christian has been duly noted, and trashed with the other BS contained within your post.

I freely admit to anyone who ask, I am Agnostic. I speak the truth as I believe it to be at all times. My definition of the truth is subject to change at ANY point in my life. So long as someone can point out with complete clarity, the error in my thinking/belief. Otherwise, I remain defiant in all my opinions.

And everything about your post screams....BS!!

I've been out here for over 20 years. In that period I have yet to meet even one JB driver that will state what you have stated. 2800 miles...complete and total BS.

I have met driver after driver (good ones) that have stated the same thing, JB HUNT filed false information on their DAC. I was even in on having said information removed from the DAC of one driver. It's simply amazing what a lawyer from a large corp. can get accomplished with one phone call.

I actually have driven. Right when I got out of High School, I drove for CR England for a little over a year. It was ok until they started losing customers...Well, at the time, I lived in southwest Missouri, and I thought JBHT had to be better than CRE. So I went to the HQ in Lowell and filled out an Application...and they hired me to be a Recruiter. Yes. I was once a Rigger...

And they send me emails on my hired drivers' status. I picked the LAST 5 PEOPLE i've hired (3 Company OTR guys, 1 dedicated guy, and 1 Intermodal guy) and all of them are still working and still think that it's going ok. If they're happy, that's fine. I've done my job well. The 1 person whom I've hired and has been released was due to, and I quote: Unsatisfactory Performance. Later I found out that he was busted for speeding twice in the span of 1 Month. I know, JB Hunt Truck and Speeding doesn't exactly match, even in the State of New York, where this occurred. But that is what I was told when I questioned management about it.
