:Wheelchair:I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dannan Richard Keays III. I am 43 years old. I was a truck driver for 23 years. I am totally disabled with Multiple Sclerosis(MS).
My doctors has reported that my MS is getting progressively worse very rapidly. I have trouble standing for more than a very short period of time, can only walk about 50 feet, before I need to stop a take a rest, speech impairment, trouble concentrating, my legs always hurt and they are numb, constant headaches, vision problems, back pains. My doctors have told me that my MS has now spread to my spinal cord. When I have trouble walking, I use a donated power chair to get around the house. What I would like to know if there is any thing that I can do with the trucking industry while stuck here at home? I know computers, dispatching work, but most companies want me to work in there office, but I can't be moble, no transportation. I have no benefits yet, been living off my saving, but thats starting to run low. I have been to almost every agency in the trucking industry in my area, looking for work. My hopes and dreams is to own a LTL Freight Service. So, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can continue my work in the trucking industry, let me know. Thank you.

Best thing I can think of is becoming a load broker. Others here will know more about that than me. Driver (you have earned that title and it will always be yours), I'm so very sorry that your driving days are done but just like you did every day on the road you gotta adjust.

Have you talked to your local MS societies and web pages? There are lots of people out there living with this every day and a site with those folks in it would be more help to you than us old truckers. But keep us updated on your progress please.

    Roll on trucker.
