It's the last week and with only 3 students starting the class, we are now finishing with 2. With the other student leaving on Monday, it atleast gives us a little more time with our instructor, Chris. We will be doing our night driving tonight and testing out tomorrow. I spent too many years driving buses and the backing is really wracking my nerves. I drove through Chicago last week and I'm irritated with backing? I always was a little backwards. I'm doing OK with the driving and shifting part but getting more nervous the closer we get to the end. lol. The 2 of us have been assigned trainers but haven't met them yet. I'm not too sure about living in a box with a stranger for 5-8 weeks but I know we won't be strangers for long. haha. I am positive I made the right choice as it is something I've been wanting to do for years. The kid got old enough and now I can live my dream. Any helpul advice would be appreciated!

Almost there, no need to be nervous now
-
Back slowly. This give you time to think and correct. It's even OK to stop during a back. No need to rush, no one has a stop watch. In fact going slowly will even earn you safety points. You can even get out and look in the middle of a back. They should love that. Good luck, you'll do fine.

Great. the instructor can make all the difference.
Did Millis give you an outline of what orientation will cover? -
Didnt have him as an instructor, but he did test me for my own truck. He was still teaching and giving advice at that point. Seemed like a great guy thats want you to do well.

Road test for exp. drivers. Drug test for all. Paper work going over insurance, life ins., disability, company policy book, safety videos. You get your hat and shirts also. Nothing crazy.
All 3 main instructors and the substitutes are all spot on professionals. They all keep it light hearted to make things easier imo.Hegemeister Thanks this. -
Well he told me he doesnt like you either...lol

Glad the last week is over. Still had a hard time with the backing. Chris does seem to want all the students to do well, atleast to the best of their abilities. In his own words, " I am a fiery guy." Nuf said. Looking forward to hearing from my trainer so I can move on to phase 2.
