Its the same truck .. I pulled the 48" bunk off and put what they now call a 36" on it stripped all the Paccar air ride of the bunk and went with a after market cab air ride and built all the mounting brackets & plates the bags are under the bunk instead of behide like from the factory it just gives it a clearner look that way.. then I had to build a adapter wiring harnesses to mate the bunk with the 379 cab the bunk came off a 388 which is completey different .. he wanted 1 piece windows in the doors so I got doors off another 388 with power windows and power locks so I had to build harnesses for those also .. just the door conversion took me the better part of a month because even though they bolted on I had to fab up new door strikers and wiring harnesses and figure out how to route them through the door frames on the cab I had to pull the A pillars back straight and pull the windshield glass and figure out how to mount the newer style mirrors on the doors because he didn't want them.on the A pillars like they started doing in.07
Put new bridge panels in the hood and new front fenders and reskinned the rightside of the hood then rebuilt the flex air supension because it was twecked if you notice in the pic the 5 th wheel isn't laying flat it should be replaced too
I did some interior work also because the drivers seat was broke and the floor need some attenion & updating .. I also had to run all new controls and plumbing for the tag axle.. I put a window in the back of the sleeper and added four 4" bunk lights that I think are ugly as sin but that what he wanted .. I don't like the color he picked but again .. not my truck .. I think its a ok truck .. but its not my style
We are good friends but theres 22 years age difference between us and my old school ways are not his style
I've only ever built 2 other wrecked trucks in my life and they were both mine so it was easier
But I've always wanted to build one for some other than myself just to see if I could do it .. and this was my chanceLast edited by a moderator: Sep 19, 2023
