Couple cow trucks I snapped pictures of yesterday and today.

 

Very nice rigs..
But you couldn't have run them into Paint Lick, KY back in the day. Kinks in road and narrow ROW would have ruined that nice boxy trailer.
Danville to Paint Lick, on KY52, thru Lancaster was a tunnel thru the woods. Plus, on my maiden journey , there was a bridge out tween Danville and Lancaster. So you detoured up 34 to hit US27 and drop back down to Lancaster then grind on to Paint Lick. We were running the trailers like pic posted back here in Mexico. #(221620) Their tops would rub on your side of the road sometimes. Ha, Never knew a Garrard driver to hit a bridge or over. pass. Too many tree limbs avoided Plus we were running double decks of ragged odd stock yearlings. Note where the deck rail is set in that Mexico pic. Slow go to dodge the limbs over road and curved road and floppy top load. Few years ago I took my pickup from Lex down to Richmond and cut over to Paint Lick. Went on back up to Lancaster on the nicest new road ever. Time do change. Asked a man there where the sale barn or stockyard had been. Said he was 62 and there had never been one there. I said well I left a load of cattle back up there on the left one night in the fall of 1955.

 

Go down to the street ending at a vague bridge end. You get off the bridge in to a dead 90 degree turn right going nearly straight up. Opposite is coming in from Lancaster at the new fire station. Some deep hole where urban renewal has occurred. Be a quiet place to live.

Octane Lighting lights, with Forenner 6,500K LED bulbs in them.
I was looking for a bright, even pattern, without blinding oncoming traffic. No one has high beamed me yet, so I consider that a win.

 

That is a great low beam. Appears you hit the right selection.

 

I delivered potato chips for Frito Lay to practically every little mini storage warehouse in Ky, Tn, Wv and several other states in the early 90’s generally with a 53. I remember several roads that are now limited to a 28’ trailer that we scraped the side of the mountain if you didn’t go into the other lane rounding curves. Jenkins, Martin and Paintsville are just a few towns that come to mind. Everyone including school busses used the CB back then to let others know which curve you were rounding and what direction you were heading. If I recall correctly a coal bucket and school bus had a wreck many years ago and then the length restriction came in place. It seems like it was a cut through from Manchester down to Barboursville, but I could be wrong on the exact location.
