Hey fellas. So I removed my mud flap hangers today because I want to replace them. The way they were hung has me a little confused, so I was wondering if you guys can shed some light. Here are two pics. One is looking from the outside of the frame, the other from the inside. On the first pic, why would they have installed those "brackets"? Why didn't they just bolt it straight through? Thanks for any insight.

I'm confused how you got the hangers off? usually there is a big spring inside the hanger. and if that spring breaks or to take it apart wrong they are junk

Did somebody burn those mounting holes out with a torch?
I would just toss those brackets and bolt on a whole new hanger assembly.Rideandrepair, abyliks, Last Call and 2 others Thank this. -

This is the only style I've ever worked with. Just bend it down, jam a piece of flatbar in there like you can see in the pic and you can unbolt it no problem.
Rideandrepair, lester and gekko1323 Thank this.
