In 7 years I have seen probably like two trailers with mud flaps at the tandems and then a set at the dot bumper. And I noticed all of these trailers had super singles. Either way looks funky for one and two a waste of mudflaps
Only thing I have heard and am aware of is it it can't be any higher than 6" off the ground other wise it beats the purpose lol
Mud flaps must be at the rear of the trailer

I think that JCT runs two sets of flaps

I remember back in the early 80's I saw this guy with an old 70's IH cabover and he had big blue lights inside at the bottom of the windshield. I asked him what they were for and he said he travelled all over the world for what he did and said that when you're out in the desert during a sand storm, the only way people can see you is if you're running those blue lights. He said he took his customer's product all over the world by ship and ferry boats. He had all these stickers from other countries on his cab. Can't remember what the product was or if he even told me.tsavory and Skate-Board Thank this.

There are the federal regs and each state is allowed to have their own as well.
SC does not require mud flaps and they don't require oversize permits up to 12' wide if it is construction related.
Certain states allow 2' overhang at the rear, others 4'.
Used to be, before daytime running lights, some states would fine you for turning off your headlights, others for turning them on - though these were rare instances.12 ga Thanks this. -
You're right, they're not that common to see, but I've seen them over the years even before super singles came out. It's just another way to get money out of our pockets.

I took someone to jail for moving a house outside of the hours restricted on the permit. The village idiot shut down my side of greater Charlotte and thought he was above the law. DOT wasn't happy either. Pretty sure he isn't moving houses anymore. Back on topic Loves makes a killing on mud flaps. Has anyone ever got ticketed for not having flaps on their tractor?truckon Thanks this.

We just went through an audit and an inspection of 5 of our trucks by FMCSA. Not the state DOT guys but the feds themselves. Now they were only inspecting the tractors and he specifically pointed out that it is a good idea to have mudflaps but they did not care as there was no FEDERAL regulation requiring them. He did state that most states do require them however.
KenworthGuyNH Thanks this. -
I was just thinking about not seeing them on trailers but always on tractors and how bass ackwards that is.

I once had to pay $22 for one paper thin mudflap from the flying j still better than a ticket , but your right about the killing.truckon Thanks this.

The curb on on the back row at TS has plenty of free ones.tsavory Thanks this.
