if you have your 5th wheel set correctly, chassis should not interfere with your mud flaps. I have my 5th wheel set where I get the best weight distribution and best ride, while keeping the chassis close enough to factor the weight, but far enough that I will not hit anything. I realize that sounds confusing, but, unless you're regularly pulling 53's, you only have your 5th wheel to move. Your best bet is to get it set in the right location, and never move it again, unless it's last resort. I will chastise customers and make them adjust the load first before I will move anything.

Last time I tore a tractor mud flap was backing over a curb and caught it between the tire and the curb, it's been sometime since I last bent a mud flap bracket, IIRC, it was because my boss/mechanic had moved my 5th wheel while servicing it, and didn't put it back in the correct position, and I didn't pay attention to it.

I cut my flaps at 7in. Just had to fix mine tonight. Almost tore off from wear. Just made new holes and rebolted
