Can anyone tell me what the two sensors on the 2020 peterbilt rears are. I’m sure one is for temperature, but I see a second one on a tubular looking part of the rear which has what I think is an air line connected to it. I’m seeing this in a picture, but the wire is not connected

Yeah looks like its just the diff lock. The sensor with the wire is probably just the switch that turns the dash light on.

    spsauerland Thanks this.

That makes sense but I’m told there are separate lines for that. I have to agree with you AModel. Do you think the air is there all the time and when you activate the switch it opens the valve to let the air lock the diffs and visa versa?

One is temperature sensor, other is internal switch to indicate that dif lock is engaged.
I had water get into the dif lock connector, it made the light on the dash come on all the time, dimly. But the dif is only actually locked when air is in the line.

That is the the switch that turns the dash light on when the differential lock is engaged.
The question I would have is why isn’t it hooked up?

Was just in the Eaton website. I’m pretty sure we are right. It shows a breakdown of the whole mechanism. Thanks for the comeback AModel. Keep the shiny side up

It’s a brand new truck at the dealer. They probably didn’t want anyone hitting the switch by mistake before it was delivered. When you hit the cab switch it backs out the axle switch which allows the spring to push the inner gears together and visa versa
