They probably go by what the majority want or what studies show puts more people in the mindset to spend more money. When I hear rap or metal playing loudly, I leave and go to another truck stop. I never watch TV in a truckstop because I hate sports & cartoons. Management can't please everyone, as much as they would like to.

 

I've heard hair metal in some of the Pilots.

I think it's up to whoever is working/ management.

 

I went in a nice restaurant in Beijing, which was playing some very nice relaxing music. After I sat down, they changed it to very loud rap with big screen TV showing Americans jumping up and down and grabbing their crotch. I complained & they apologized, changed it back to easy listening music and videos, and said they thought that's what Americans prefer. It embarrassed me.

 

You must be spending alot of time in there for it to bother you! Otherwise just ignore it.

 

Ain't that why they made ipods?

I'd rather hear some brain curdling music like Abba or the BeeGees before hearing them dang shower calls over and over.

Businesses are businesses. There is an unwritten rule they have to play something crappy.
