I built a new 4300 IH Eagle glider in 1985. Very first trip out,I'm parked sleeping in the 76 at Kingman ,Az,and some pos backs into my hood, and tears it all to hell. The parking spot he was trying to back into was big enough to put the Queen Mary in,but he hits me. Worse part,he gave me phoney info, fly by nite operation, beat me out of the repair. It happened back then too, just not as frequently.

If you think about it, percentage wise, it was probably just as frequent or maybe even more so back then as it is now. I am afraid to guess how many times more trucks we have on the road now as in the 80's.

It’s a race to the bottom.
I could be wrong, but this job takes skills.
Modern technology is driving down the need for skills.
In order to get bodies in the seat, you have to take things to the lowest common denominators.
    Welcome to trucking today.

This thread sounds like a bunch of baby boomers talking about young people mixed with a dash of racism.

I’m sure no one tore up trucks in the 70s...

    Says nobody is being racist...

Follows up with a racist response.
