How much do two axle fixed gooseneck trailers cost. Also how much would it cost to put emissions on a 1970's peterbilt 359 caterpillar engine.
Must do's when buying used trucks.

Uhhhhh probably $15,638.42. Why in the world would you put some junk like that on a 40 year old engine never intended for such craziness and choke it down like that?
6rider and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
It'd cost more than what the truck is worth. Need a new engine because emission equipment isn't compatible with 40 year old mechanical engines.

WOW, this thread really took a left turn!

Most used trucks have there problems and without a good understanding of what you are looking for you might get burned. I would rather spend 500 to get a outside inspection done than spend 30-50k and get burned. I have a very trusted shop that inspects anything I buy before I buy it. They know I don't mind spending the money to keep all my trucks up to 100%. My moto is you don't got the money to fix it right park it until you do... I have a check list of things I check and look for in every truck. Then I ask to take it for a inspection, If they wont let me get a outside inspection done then I always walk away. A outsider has nothing to loose if you don't buy the truck. Rebuild / in frame is one of the biggest pushes on used resale. These guys either got paper work or don't. And when they do have it question it always, and if they don't have it assume its bogus. Anybody in this day and age can write up and print a bogus bill for work done. Engine kits can be bought that are not up to par. Cheap parts don't last!!!! Always be aware that a salesmans job is to sale a truck to YOU. Always make sure all work you requested done is completed before you sign for the truck. God speed to all you drivers out there!!!!!!

I'm looking at buying from Schneider. Does anyone have experience buying from them. They have some decent looking trucks that are not orange and good mileage. I'm looking at a 2015 Cascadia.

No to Cascadia and emission problems. Once the problem w Emission start , they' ll never go away.

Also stay simple- manual trans and check everything !! If in doubt , get a second opinion. Buying and operating are your biggest expenses, keep all reciets and learn to do your basic mechnix work

Personally, I look for one that already has known mechanical issues for cheap. Put the extra money into an overhaul that you trust. Gives me piece of mind and a semi fresh slate to start with.
