So I have a 96 pete 378 that likes to have its flaws every now and then with break owns.
Like today I had a hole rub into my fuel line that goes to my ECM. Lost about a 1/4 of fuel.
But was a few miles from a truck shop. I figured if I had some big zip ties, and some extra hose laying around, I could have "temp" sealed it or slowed the leak down to drive back to the truck shop. But I didnt ( I did get the truck fixed though, and before anyone goes into it, a mobile mechanic was 5hrs out and I had a deadline to make)
So im curious, in order to be more prepared for breakdowns, what do you all keep on your truck as speciality items and temp fix parts? Besides your basic tools.
Must have tools/parts you keep on your truck?

Variety box of hose clamps, some spare hose, hump hoses for the ATA piping. I don’t keep half of what I’ve seen some guys keep. Some guys are the real deal. Brake cans, alternators, air tools. Some basic wrenches though or some hose clamps could limp you back to the house some times. Air Ferrels and fittings which reminds me I need more. Some of them quick connect air fittings come in handy in a pinch to patch a broke air line. The list is endless. When you need it most you may not have it no matter how much you carry lol

Man how I wish to be able to have a rolling tool and parts truck just for the truck I drive and the trailers I use.
But I never drive far from home even though I have a sleeper.
I keep hoses, clamps, extra fluids, caging bolts, glad hands, basic tools, penetrant lube, brake clean, eek: ether) booster cables, antifreeze.
When I drive the day cabs, pretty much forget it. Not much room to carry much.
When the one engine puked a head gasket or something and put coolant in the oil, I used creek water to fill the rad back up so I can get the truck home. (engine has been removed and replaced with another engine. It’s awaiting a complete engine overhaul)Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
