Used to see lots of city trucks with no passenger seat. May be a small weight savings, but the biggest reason is it probably saves them a few dollars per unit when buying new.

All the big freight company's never had passenger seat because it was a money saving thing not a weight concern they saving a ton of money when you buy a 1000 truck. Roadway trucks has a speedo air gauge and idiot light for oil pressure that was it in the dash. A driver seat and a steering wheel no hand brake no power steering no A/C it was all done to save money.

Husband has a Peterbilt with the built in refrigerator and on the seat he has the igloo strapped in. But people do take them out to have a small refrigerator installed in it's place.
