Hey Gang gotta question .......I'm fixin to start CDL school at the local Community college and want to make sure all my ducks are i a row if ya know what i'm saying. I've been liscensed in West Va for about 3 years with no problems (tickets, etc.), but recently was notified that my former Florida D/L was under suspension because of previously unpaid tickets (no seatbelt, and no D/L present...I did'nt have them with me). It was for real I just forgot about the dang things with moving outta state and all. Well I have since "reinstated" (Florida law apparantly states after paying fines and tickets you still have to pay to reinstate your Fla D/L even though your liscensed in another state) but carry a West Va liscensed and reside in West Va. My question is this....when they ask for a copy of your MVA do they want Fla and WV or just the state I reside in, and from what I'm telling ya do you think I'll have a problem hiring on somewhere. Thanks

If you still have an active license in Florida and West Virginia, that is definately a problem. Did you go to WV and apply for a new license instead of surrendering the FL license for the WV license? If that is what you did you need to make the FL license inactive.

I would just present the WV MVR. Is the FL problem taken care of? It could come back and bite you since it was only recently taken care of. Did you get notice through WV? Get a copy of your WV MVR and see what it shows.

Thanks guys, when I got liscensed in WVA I surrendered my Fla to them in order to obtain the WV d/l. The ticket was recieved in 09 while visiting Fla, I didnt have my WV liscense with me so when the Trooper ran my social the ticket was applied to my surrendered Fla liscense for some reason. Without flying to Florida and petitioning the court and jumping through the hoops they wanted me too I just paid everything to clear the liscense in Florida even though I was presently liscensed in WV. As of right now the florida d/l is cleared. I never even found out about this untill I went to renew my WV d/l and they wouldnt renew untill Fla got taken care of, once done I was able to renew my WV.

Based on what you have said, this will show up in an MVR check anyway.

Besides I just read that based on the federal regulations, you have to provide information on all states in which you have held a license in the past ten years. I'm sure this is what Allow Me was speaking of.

I called Florida yesterday and they said my liscense is cleared and a check would state I am liscensed in the state I reside (WV). I also purchased a copy of my Fla MVR and it shows 1 moving violation 88/70 from 09,Suspensions for the no seatbelt 09, no d/l present 09 + those tickets everything else is 3 offenses from 03-06. My WV is clear from 09-present. Thanks for reply!

It looks like you may have a hurdle to overcome. It is my understanding that 15 MPH or more is considered reckless driving. That gives you a reckless driving ticket that is less than three years old. You might want to investigate the impact of this further. Many companies state no reckless driving tickets within X years.

Florida is a real stinker,I have a PA licence now but when I had my FL licence,I got 2 tickets 1 moving and 1 non moving vol. When I got my PA MVR last month,it was on there. Also yeah Florida have that rule that you have to pay a reinstate fee.Just an another money making deal for them, that's all.:biggrin_25516:

You are very welcome. Don't give up. I don't see it as a deal breaker but it could be a limiting factor. I'm can't imagine there aren't companies that will take it.

I have an improper passing ticket, in my four-wheeler, that went on my MVR as reckless driving. It is almost 5 years old and once it is, it will become no factor based on the companies I have looked at.
