It looks like all companies have their own length years they ask you to list driving convictions, however I live in NYS and all you convictions are removed at the end of the 3rd year following the year the conviction to place. Example Seatbelt ticket 4/2008 the 3 years start on Jan 1st the following year so this conviction will be removed on 1/2012.

My question is if a company asks for the last 5 years and I pull my current NYS MVR and it has one ticket on it but I know as of 1/2013 a few convictions where removed by the 3 year rule do I still list them or just list whats currently shown in my drivers abstract?

If you say list everything, even what has been removed I ask this, If there a service out there where I can purchase a drivers record to show older items other than what I see on my current NYS MVR record that has been removed?

    Thanks

I know in TX you can ask for a 3, 5 and I think 10 year MVR but it looks like NYS only has 1 abstract to purchase ... Also, NYS keeps some violations and events longer than 3 years Link Here

I would list everything. Some companies go way back and if you dont list everything they may consider that falsifying an application.I think you go to your DMV and purchase your driving record.Thats what I do where I live. But every state is different.

Thanks for the responses. I purchase my abstract every Jan just to make sure everything is as it should be. My Jan 2013 dropped and handful of stuff from my Jan 2012 abstarct. I'm certain of whats on my current record. One seatbelt ticket and One Expired Inspection. I tend to be over honest of the smallest things and I just didn't want to call myself out on any applications if I didn't need to. Like why mention my speeding ticket the summer of 1995.

If your tickets are that far back I wouldnt mention it either.I received a ticket back in 2003 for making an illegal turn out of a trk stop.I just followed 2 trks ahead.I was spose to turn right and make a uturn. Some companies still ask about it.I just tell them I forgot all about it

I wont have a CDL until June and I didn't know if the trucking companies had any "special" way of seeing more years of a driving record other than the same info I get from the NYS DMV.

List everything! If your MVR no longer shows a traffic conviction then no one else will see it either however; If DAC for example ran your MVR say 2 yrs ago and found it then, well DAC would still have that record of that previous finding! DAC can hold that info for 7 years and employer info for 10 years.

Now if you have not been in the commercial transportation industry before than it is unlikely that DAC has ever checked into you before but perhaps some other company has, DAC has many info sources. be safe list what you know,

This might be a silly new guy question but does DAC have data on a non CDL holder? I was thinking since I didn't have a CDL yet I would have a blank DAC report. If they do import data on everyone then I'll purchase a DAC report on myself and match my response according to the DAC info.

I'm not looking to lie at all about my driving history I just don't want to over share information that might not be required.

Thanks again for all the responses

normally they don't track non CDL lic's unless you worked for a company that used DAC for example some cab companies use DAC services. You can get a free DAC report once a year if you request it, here is the link http://hireright.com/Consumers-Applicants.aspx

    Runkle Thanks this.
