BTW I enjoy this thread. I found the rear end, power divider, drive shaft "discussion" rather amusing. I did not have time to respond while it was going on. I misunderstood your first question about it as well but understood what you were asking after that. It happens glad everyone finally got on the same page.
I look forward to seeing more pics and your progress.

Ps don't let anyone (not that you would) try to sway you. its your truck/money build it however you want.

    BIGZILLA Thanks this.

THANKS. It has definitely been educational for me and hopefully a few others.

Yeah, I finally realized how stupid my part sounded IF you weren't coming from a place of not having the slightest clue what a power divider was. I should have asked that question first, then that entire driveshaft fiasco wouldn't have happened. My fault.

@BIGZILLA Thanks. I have never seen one of these early build sheets. The Eaton/Fuller 5 speed main box was a surprise as I have seen only 1 in a truck linked with ANOTHER fuller 4 speed aux box in my life. And , yes, I did drive it, but only for a limited time. More later on this. This build sheet is a great thing to have with this old girl................

@ColoradoGreen, regarding how to figure the rear axle ratio, my SQ's are stamped on the pinion shaft where it pokes out of the housing

Actually, I was Fishin'. I have a very rough life. 294291_161363913946649_100002191241518_324518_5472535_n.jpg 2 of my 3 favorite things are bloody decks and the sound of an old two stroke Detroit. I'm headed over to follow your advice and start checking for unhealthy components. I will report back this afternoon.

I will look for this too. Thanks

Apparently, anyone can request these for any Peterbilt. Simply ask the parts department To open a "Paccar parts history case" on your VIN. However, Peterbilt in Ft Lauderdale told me it would cost $50 and I would have to come in to do it so I called Peterbilt in Ft. Pierce, Fl and the parts dept told me it couldn't be done. Being me, I got the owner of the dealership on the phone and he was more than happy to help me free of charge. Nice Guy! So if you try this don't give up, Peterbilt corporate will follow through quickly when you get a dealership to follow proper procedures.
