    Thanks

It's going to be a very slow project given my limited physical abilities. But I promise I will post something as soon as I start cutting I'm doing some basic maintenance today. Just change the oil and filters.
If there's anybody out there this ever taken a naturally aspirated 8v71 and added one or two turbos I'd love to talk to you.
    Amen
I listed it 4 times. I kept dropping the price. Finally someone bid 5k on it but didn't meet the reserve. The reseve was $6k. If no one was willing to put up 6k then the truck doesnt need saving.

Build something cool, I just ask that you keep it a Big Truck! Not a Little Truck with a Big Truck Cab... Big and Unique, there are already to many small block chevy powered creations out there,, and I'm a gm guy!

    Confused...???

I thought that all the 71 series had blowers on them!!

Big is the plan! I'm going to keep the tandem axles but put super singles on. I can't decide whether to go with really fat short stacks or put zoomies on for the exhaust.

As far as the turbos are concerned Detroit diesel made versions with turbos and without turbos. The ones with the turbos have a blow through supercharger. They make them with one turbo and with two turbos Some of the 12 cylinder and 16 cylinder versions have four turbos and two superchargers. When I get back to the house I'll post pictures/

This is an 8v92 twin turbo (marine) I just parted out. I saved everything above the supercharger including the intercoolers. both turbos blow directly through the supercharger.

They made these in the 71 series and 149 series too, mostly marine and industrial versions but I've seen a truck with a 12v149 that had 4 turbos feeding two superchargers like this one:

I want to try to add two turbos if I can get enough fuel in there, maybe even methanol injection. GO BIG OR GO HOME! I'm gonna have to consult a REAL expert on that one. LOL

Have not seen any gray marines for a long time. An old Navy man a worked with said that GM stood for Gray Marine originally and General Motors bought them out to get in the diesel business. I feel the same way about a 4-53 turbo in a truck.

Thanks for the tag I totally missed out on seeing this cool old truck. All 2 stroke Detroits have blowers. They are required to force air into the cylinders for them to run. They were common with a single turbo and all that will bolt on no problem. The pistons are a different compression ratio for turbo and non turbo engines but it should work if you don't stay in it for extended periods. I have a John Deere that has been high compression with a turbo for many years. For adding fuel the injectors are marked on top with with a number like 55. The higher the number the more the fuel. The 92 was a much better engine and yours already had twin turbos.
