Weirdest thing about them is they’ll want you to participate in a “biometrics” testing program(which has absolutely nothing to do with driving a truck). They probably get govt. kickbacks for doing this. Newbies that work for them will also be docked on their final pay for orientation related expenses, if you leave before the first 6 mos. They won’t even tell you this until you’ve signed up for orientation(stuck it out for 2 years there, so it didn’t apply). They have high driver turnover, and that should tell you something in itself.

You've got a real hard on for Schuster. Your posts would make someone think they killed your dog or something.motocross25 and Suspect Zero Thank this.

I’m thinking he did something really egregious and was fired and has the mentality that he’s not responsible for anything he does and therfore the company is bad…schuster from everything I’ve seen about them is that they have a good reputation and such..motocross25, Suspect Zero, wulfman75 and 1 other person Thank this.

I agree. Equipment looks good, they've got customers, good running lanes, this whole thread tells a great story. If I were looking to make a change, I'd consider them.Suspect Zero Thanks this.

You should go work for them(if you’re not there already, as a recruiter or dispatcher). Have at it. You’ll also get sick of the constant barrage of daily micromanaging emails(they also use your personal email to send you BS messages).

They actually did away with the physical screening thing. Funnily enough, it was from my orientation class where a lady got sent home. She also complained the entire class about everything imaginable, so y’know, tough loss I reckon. But yeah, Schuster posted a bulletin in the driver’s lounge in late 2021 regarding the change to that policy lol. I think it’s silly that more companies can’t do a physical ability test. I know reefer work is not labor-intensive, but that test was so easy that there’s no way someone could properly secure a load or do a thorough pre trip if they couldn’t pass it. And chains would be an absolute no if someone couldn’t handle it. But anyways, it’s no longer
I agree about there being a somewhat high turnover rate, but the fleet sized has also increased by 30-40% since I first hired on in 2021. Internationals might be a dealbreaker for some. I’m sure there’s a couple less than stellar dispatchers in the office. But it’s also a company that hires to pull a reefer OTR with 6 months experience. Between relatively new drivers that are just wanting experience until they get a good local offer, people that aren’t a good fit for reefer work, and the nature of OTR trucking in general, that’s not really a surprise.
I might just be lucky with my dispatcher, but I’ve never been micromanaged by him. Night shift has one over achiever that asks if you’re about to head to receiver, even with an hour to spare from 10 minutes away lol, but they’re friendly enough besides that.Bumper, bryan21384, JForce28 and 4 others Thank this.
