It a been kind of a blah week, I've had my mind on my family at home and my business last. Next Friday I anticipate that I'll be clearing in the $1750-2000 range after expenses. For running west of I 35 all week that would be an exceptional week but it doesn't meet expectations for myself.
I do things pretty simple. Find the best paying freight get your truck to it and be the best driver hauling for that agent, service is everything, waking up at 0100-0200 all week is necessary to make demands of your business. If you do not pay your expenses quick each week you will not succeed in terms of net profit here. If your weekend load is clearing part of your expenses you are losing out of possibilities of more money in your pocket. I clear my expenses by Thursday afternoon and try to be running on pure profit 4 loads a week. Hustling is a big part of my business, extra sleep, sitting in th truck stop and waiting for other Malone drivers so I can "run" with them doesn't make my business money. Money doesn't make the world go round, but being broke doesn't feed my wife and baby girl either. Due for a PM soon so I see another blah week coming but it's time to push through all that.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful as I am doing better than some here. I've just got a lot on the mind, my little girls been having neurologist appointments for a spot on her back and it's been eating at me for not being there. She seems to be okay so far it seems to just be a muscle but more visits more tests to go.

Playa sorry to hear about your daughter and I pray all is well. My father was an OTR driver so I never knew him really, kids grow up super fast and it will pass you by. And this is the main reason why I choose to run local and only gross about 70k a year but home every #### night by 8 with my family and every weekend off and holidays off with pay plus two weeks paid vacation. I do this because for me my family comes first and foremost. Now my wife makes more then me and works 9 to 5 so this also helps as well but my point is for me I'd take less money to be apart of my kids life on a daily basis, but that's just me. I have the upmost respect for OTR drivers, this country couldn't function without you all, this is just my personal preference. And I'm praying all will be well with your daughter Playa.

It's tough out here when you have a family at home. There are a lot of things you miss out on, things most folks take for granted. I can't tell you it will get better but I can tell you this, with your work ethic, attitude, and approach to your business, you will be successful. Why does that matter? If you are going to spend weeks away from home, make them count. Don't just go through the motions. Work hard so when you go home, you can concentrate on your family. It sounds like you are doing this very thing.
Sending good thoughts and prayers for you and your family.Philly1Finest and playamwj12 Thank this. -
