Question fellas? Is there a driver fee for tarping? Like an actual dollar amount for the labor itself? Or is it one of those things were depending on the agent, they just tell you it's included in the line haul rate if they know you don't know any better? Thanks in advance.

It depends on the load. Sometimes it's just included in the line haul or it may be a stand alone price, it never hurts to ask. I will say that if they are going to pay you an amazing amount to tarp, say like $200, then expect the load to be sharp steel that'll turn your tarps into Swiss cheese. But those loads can be worth it if you have something to put between the load and your tarp like cardboard boxes or heavy duty moving blankets.

Excellent response. Moving blankets are cheap at harbor freight, and you cant have enough.

Moving blankets, carpet strips, cardboard. .. ANYTHING to keep those tarps intact. Wanna see what a $1500 tarp looks like? I have one on my truck. It looks exactly like a $300 tarp. Thats about what it cost me when I got stuck in Nebraska with two horribly ripped tarps and nothin moving that didnt have to be tarped. One sweet paying load missed plus deadhead to urbana iowa to get tarps plus deadhead to finally load.
I will stuff a dead body under there if need be.#KeepPounding!, 88 Alpha and playamwj12 Thank this. -
Thanks guys! It's funny you guys said this. I saw one driver on YouTube mention using moving blankets for sharp objects that had to be tarped. I have cousins who are owner ops and do moving of household goods cross country. Those moving blankets and referred to as pads or runner mats in their line of trucking. Lol! I already put my order in. I'll head to the warehouse and grab some once the truck hits Charlotte streets. Lol
