I am also curious how many of their loads are double brokered.

I personally will not call on the loads they post and will not answer the phone if I know its them. If they actually get me to answer, as soon as I hear tql, it's over.

    Too much BS

The " Hungry Horace" culture is everywhere. It is kind of desperate. My wife went to open a retirement account last week and the broker tried to put her in stocks that maxed out his commissions. She walked out.

    Hunger Games.

It sounds like, in this instance, the Sales guy at TQL may not "have" the load 100%. The TQL guy is competing to get the load with a handful of other brokers, direct shippers, etc - he's figuring on a target rate, and still has to present the fact that he has a truck to his customer. So what happens is, @broker20 and his team go to work on finding the truck, negotiate with you guys, and get you "on" a load that the sales mook may or may not have. So they give sales mook a heads up, and he goes back to the customer, probably via email, and says, "Hey I've got a truck for x rate" when the shipper may have covered the load with someone else, or might still be waiting for rates back. So, TQL keeps y'all on the hook with their 'rate confirmation' so you've got something, and they may not even have the load yet. Make sense?

Edit: This is one of the many reasons why this particular model of brokering is a ####show. That's why at my brokerage, we handle everything from quote to booking, so that there's one point of contact for the customer, and one point of contact for the driver at the brokerage. Makes it easier on all parties.

    Thanks in advance.

I quit doing business with them in 2012.
My reason is because they are a MAJOR insurance risk about filing false claims and holding payments hostage.

That usually depends on the individual broker. Usually if there is no other option then yea they will double broker. But that doesnt happen to often as you might think.

I think he means how many of your loads originate from another broker and not the customer directly?

I work at a large broker. That's really screwed up. We go off day of pickup. If the load cancels day of pickup, we owe the driver. If the load cancel the day before pickup, no fee. Of course, we also don't send out rate confirmations on non-committed load.
