You should have a manual mode where you can drop that extra gear
Also
When you stop to let them cook. Don’t set the brakes That only traps all that heat
My brakes are smoking when on steep grades.

You can spec a truck with drums
Some do for the weight thingKeepforgettingmypassword and BigBob410 Thank this. -
Yeah that makes sense but the difference between drum and disc is night and day. If I can avoid it I’ll never go back to drums.Keepforgettingmypassword, tscottme and GYPSY65 Thank this.

My 2021 is disc. Love them but I just bought a big bunk 2019 and he spec’d drums for weight
I love everything about the new ride but not sure in the brake Vs weight thing
Personally I think I’d lose the drums for disc and just haul less weight
Not sure switching the new ride to disc is a thing or worth it??BigBob410 Thanks this. -
My new truck is spec'd with disc in front and drum in back. I am not sure they help that much on the rear but could be wrong. I am guessing you cold change them pretty easy.

I’ve heard of guys getting “donors” and switched to disc. I also heard it’s very costly to switch with new parts. But I don’t think the weight saving to me would be worth it. The 4 trucks I’ve driven with disc were outstanding .

That engine has a VERY good engine brake. I would hope Schneider didn’t mess with that setting.

Watch this if you have some time.

I know mine does. This thing will practically stop with the engine brake but I think a lot of the new engines are that way.Brettj3876, Keepforgettingmypassword and JoeyJunk Thank this.
