My friend has a class A cdl with hazmat and tanker endorsement. He does not have his tractor trailer endorsement though. Does anyone know what he can do to receive this endorsement with out spending the thousands to go to trucking school.
Thanks for any help you guys could offer,
Chad
P.S. He is located in Omaha, Nebraska
My buddy needs some help!!!

So what you're saying is he has a Class B with tanker and hazmat and wants a class A . This has been discussed with others . He will have to get his permit and take a road test . It has been mentioned some CDL testing sites have trucks available for testing . But even if he gets the license it will be hard to find work without experience .

Chadclearly... did you mis-speak when you said class "A" cdl?

Might be a really heavy tanker truck. Since an "A" is determined by weight.
Check with the local DMV, perhaps he could try to get the endorsement by simply taking the written test "cold"? ie: getting the Nebraska CDL handbook and studing like hell.
If he already has a CDL A perhaps he could then go to a place like Penske and rent a tractor for the road test. Although he's gonna need a buddy to go with him. Then maybe he can find some local company that will let him borrow an empty box? (I mean legitimately here, BTW)
I mean, this is basicly the school of "Beg, Borrow & Steal", but it might be cheaper than going to a school.chadcleary Thanks this. -
He has a class A. But he does not have Tractor trailer endorsement.

There's no such endorsement as a tractor trailer. Endorsements are passenger, hazardous material, double and triple trailers, tank, combination hazardous material and tank. That's the way most states are anyway.

Class B is any single vehicle with a GVWR over 26,000 lbs.

The original post makes no sense .munrkr Thanks this. -
Thank you both. I was reading another thread in this section where the info in the original post was also second hand. I almost hate to jump in these. Like I said... Almost! The regs and their interpretation are fodder enough without the "relays". But thanks for clearing this up. Class "A" is a type of license, not an endorsement.

did i read this right?, if he has a cdl. class A, he is road ready, if he has a class B, then all he has to do is take road test, here in indiana last time i checked i believe it cost 75.00 to 90.00 depending on who supplied the truck.that,s the easy part the hard part is finding someone to give him a job. with no exp. its not easy with all the ins. reg. ect good luck to him.may he prosper but above all be safe. Yup, I have never heard of such an endorsement. A Class A CDL entitles you to drive a tractor-trailer...so with this being said, he must have only a Class B...
