Why does he need a second chance; criminal record?

What is causing the rejections? There is no mention of what his current MVR record looks like. IF his current MVR has speeding tickets and reckless driving on it, etc...he is going to have a tough time either way. I applaud you in your effort to help your buddy out and hope it works out for him.

    joseph1135 Thanks this.

If he's getting rejected, there's a reason. Is there something in his background that's preventing him from being accepted?

What I think is call around first then he gets his cdl,not the other way around.Far as I know all the training companies require schooling.I imagine that's part of the requirements with the carriers insurance company.

MVR, he hasnt had speeding tickets in the past 3 or 4 years

Seat belt violation within the past 2 months (2) 5 minutes apart.. LITERALLY 5 MINUTES apart.

no Dui's or ovi's or ect like that.

has had misdemeanors, and like a DV charge, never convicted. hes had disorderly conduct. a small rap sheet, but nothing serious

Can you get a CDL without school? Answer is yes however with a big BUT.
    .
.The problem is that trucking companies are hamstrung by the insurance companies. Without the paperwork from a school, and better yet a school that the trucking company will accept, you are not an acceptable candidate for employment with most trucking companies. Without that paperwork from a qualifying school, the insurance companies are most likely going to balk at approving your employment.
.For example, the last time I checked on Millis Transfer, you either go to their school or you need one year of verifiable OTR driving experience.
    .
.Look, if you want to get easily employed in the trucking industry, you need a clean background check. That means MVR [motor vehicle report], criminal and CSA. Next, get your CDL either through the company school or a quality school that is acceptable to the trucking company. Minimum age of 21 and 23 or older is better still.
    .
.If you have a felony conviction, the problem is not in getting your CDL but rather in finding a company that will hire you.
    .
.If you are completely bent on trying to beat the existing system, you set yourself up for a lot, and I mean a whole lot, of problems and rejection that you could easily avoid by just doing things the easy way.

He may want to check his MVR. And his work history.

It's not everybody's thing. Lots of people think that they can come out here, make money and have it relatively easy. That's not the case. And if he's been a screw up at other jobs, he could be a screw up out here, and sometimes that leads to tragic consequences. Tell him it's time to put his big boy pants on and get a job, stay a year, and then look back into it.

ill tell him that.. ill also tell him in the meantime, he can get his cdl's if he wants, or his permit.. he can start a business or work for someone

He asks whats best, starting his own business or getting a J.O.B and staying a year or two, and getting some stability?
