The radio is 35-40 years old...and you are just now figuring out the meter is for "power" and not SWR?

I have repaired a few that have had solder blobs shorting out the board or someone pulled the wrong parts completely.

To link the antenna and the CB with the SWR meter. First, attach the antenna cable's end to the SWR meter's input. The antenna input on the rear of the radio should then receive the cable from the SWR meter.

The optimum signal quality may be ensured by calibrating a CB radio, which will be covered in this article. Setting up an SWR meter is the first step in accomplishing this.
