Finally started my CDL school today at the local college. Did orientation, a few tests, and got my DOT card....cough...cough..at least the doc was MILFY:pottytrain1:. Got a brief intro to starting and backing, and tomorrow we will be hitting the trucks, doing our straight backs.

Gotta go get my permit by Monday, as we will begin driving then. Monday to Thursday will be all classroom and driving, then Fridays will be dedicated to backing.

Off to a good start, but can't wait till it's over. I'll update as long as there is interest in reading my 2 cents.8)

Don't do it! Save yourself before it's too late!!!!!

I wonder, do they even teach 180 backs in school anymore? Or is that something yall have to figure out in the 'real world'

    It's too late, my friend,:biggrin_25525:

Day 2, Got my permit, and we did our first day of backing. I did ok in keeping the unit straight in an unmarked area, but once I got to the cones, couldn't do it to save my life. It was frustrating, but I did ok in moving forward and making turns. Double clutching wasn't as bad as I thought, and was able to make 4th gear in what space we had.

    Thanks!

I'm doing pretty good so far, got a good grasp on controlling the vehicle, pre-trip is easy, and backing is getting better. I passed all my endorsements on Friday, and got my fingerprints done today for my Hazmat. Kinda hard to believe we go for our skills test in another week and a half. Looking forward to graduating, and hitting the oil fields.
