My China Diary Begins

Well arrived yesterday afternoon after being up over 30 hours. Can never sleep on a plane. The trip in itself was uneventfull. There have been some changes since the last time that I was here in Guangzhou, like signs that say now that if you get caught honking your horn in the Suburban limits of the city, it will cost you 150RMB. I will use RMB because it will be easier for me. For the USD rate, just divide by 6.5. Arrived at the airport, and there was the little Mrs. While I was heading for the Taxi stand, she is on the phone. Next thing I know, she has someone that is affiliated with the place that we are staying picking us up. That was nice. A nice new KIA with air. Not shortly arrival I was in bed. That was about 3 in the afternoon and did not get out until 5 this morning. Still ##### tired and soon a nap while she and the daughter are out walking around the city.

After our arrival she presents me with some gifts. A nice new solid gold signet ring and a 100% silk windbreaker. Then later a bottle of Glenlivet Scotch. She went all out this time.

This afternoon will be spending time getting ready for the next 2 days of interviews. First one is to submit all the paperwork and the second one is the actual interview.

This month is what is called the Canton Fair. It is a large exhibition. When it happens, everything goes up in price. For an example, next to where we are staying is the Westin Resort hotel. Normally the breakfast buffet is 30RMB per person. When asked this morning, was told that it is now 182RMB. There is no way that I am paying that for a breakfast buffet. After the interview and she receives her visa and passport back, we are heading out of the city to a small town up in the mountains. Believe it or not, it is a resort, and it is called Howard Johnsons. I have attached some pics. the first two are another resort that we are looking at. The one is the honeymoon suite that has a hotspring off the terrance. The price, and you will die, 390RMB.

Well, I will post more as time goes on. Will be heading out for dinner tonight so can get some pics taken. Everyone, be safe and take care.

 

Thanks everyone. Yes, the prices are somewhat high right now. Come the first of November theyn will drop back to normal, as soon as the fair is over. The only things that really go up, hotels, as far as the 3-5 star one. Such as the Westin next door. During the fair, the price will go up on a normal $50 room to about $150 or even higher. The restruants in most of the city stay normal. Happy that you enjoyed the pics. Here are some more for you.
