Whoa! An Ike reference.
If we're going back that far, let's blame it on the Lincoln administration.

THIS CRAP ^^^ BELONGS IN THE POLITICS THREAD!
Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama has NOTHING to do with the son who took over from DAD and screwed up by using Arrow as a play toy money tree! They knew over a year ago they were going under and started screwing the drivers then "suspended" operations which is a LEGAL way to keep 1400 drivers and 2-300 office personnel for getting unemployment for a few weeks to a month! What a stand up guy little Douggie is!
Take your political cry baby crap to where it belongs! For those of us who have been doing this long enough we have noticed a trend where daddy gives the company to the kids and Oh My they go under or productivity falls off from bad management or plain stupidity because the kids don't understand trucking because they didn't "live" trucking! Hence Arrows fall from grace! They were actually a pretty good company to work for until after Dougie took over. Ask the drivers what year things started to fall apart. About 2005 is what I've heard! Maintenance on the trucks fell off, road repairs got handled in a "when we want to pay the shop" attitude and drivers benefits started to take a hit. BUT Douggie didn't take a hit did he?
I STILL haven't heard where he's at yet? Has anyone else? Please post any new news articles you see about Arrow!Locdrjr, miconn, otherhalftw and 2 others Thank this. -
From other posts on the forum, maybe the industry is better off with them gone ...
Just goes to show the stark reality - you're on your own out there.
Need to have cash at all times to get that ten wheeler home if need be ...
Who knows who'll be folding next?miconn Thanks this. -
Does anyone really believe that upper management didn't see this coming for months?
Sounds to me like Daimler "called in" their notes and lease contracts ... this doesn't just happen "out of the blue".
As far as any laws that may apply to benefit the driver ... this is the trucking industry - "laws" don't apply until the lawsuit is lost ... (and the company claims "no fault")
Of course Daimler will offer what ever they can to recover their losses, (bus tickets) as they know most every truck left out "in the wild" will probably be irrecoverable, stripped and worthless.
As far as upper management being "blackballed" for this incident ... maybe in a perfect world.
But in this world they will find another job in no-time because the bottom line is maximizing profits.
And talk about taking it to the end of the line ...
Who know how many millions have been pocketed by ownership thru all this - only to return under some different "name" and tax id in the future.
Lawsuits will all be against a now defunct "corporate entity", with big creditors getting the "lions share" of what's left (probably just real estate).
As disgusting and distasteful as this whole episode is ... this story will be forgotten by Spring - it happens too much ... it happens all the time.
Drivers will get nothing.
Make it your business to know if your company is in bankruptcy, it's debt load, and other business info and plan accordingly.
As another poster said ... "Just one bounced check is enough".
miconn Thanks this. -
With the economy in the shape its in, what makes people think they can just continue living life as normal? Spend, spend, spend! did you ever think that there may come a day that the house of cards may come crashing down? $25.00 or $50.00 a week is nothing to stick back somewhere, you probably blow that not even thinking about it. Why cant you do at least that for yourself?
I still think what happened was crappy, but it should be wake up call to everybody. I've pretty well known for the last few years that people are not as secure in their jobs as they thought. Being one paycheck away from being homeless is no way to live.
I mean nothing personal to you, 2 Years, I see you haven't been driving long, There is nothing wrong with being dedicated to your employer, but you had better not bury your head in the sand and rely on them to take care of you. My advise to you is to keep a back up plan, keep enough money set aside so you are never put in the situation of being stranded on the road. There will be times that there may not be somebody there to help you, you had better be prepared to help yourself........ -
we have a arrow terminal here in phx. It made the news here and no one is answering the phones. Like I said before. upper management do have accountants and they knew it was coming. For the owner of arrow. He need to be looking over his shoulders now. He screwed a lot of people out there.

You have to love the list of companies "stepping up" to help out Arrow drivers with a job and bus ticket ... as I'm sure some are genuine.
But some others make you wonder ...
Including one in particular from Michigan that doesn't seem too much better off financially than Arrow was.
