My company has banned ANY cell phone usage while driving.

We agree there. But I wonder if that is because there are merely a LOT more 4 wheelers on the road than semi-trucks, or if OTR drivers truely are better able to handle distracted driving situations.

Personally I think these laws banning talking on a cell are foolish. They are virtually unenforcable for the most part.

In other news, today an over whelming majorty of truckers called on congress to inact legislation for mandatory drug screens while voting.

Billy-Bob of KY wrote, "Some of these laws they've passed lately, what are they on drugs?"

A worried housewife in CT asked, "they're passing laws that affect my children,,,MY CHILDREN!"

We asked a convicted ex-trucker and for his opinion, "I got in that wreck in 98 and only killed 2 people, but these senators,,, they're affecting MILLIONS of lives! Tain't right man"

    This is See-BS news.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I signed the paper so now I'm legally in hotter water if I'm on the phone and something happens whether I'm distracted or not.

I've got a google voice account now and I'll probably get a prepaid phone from a source called "Straight Talk" available from Wal-Mart, that way, I'll have an Internet phone number that I can easily forward to any or all my phones.

I'll still use the phone while driving, I can already see that. I'll just be even more mindful of where and when to use it.

I do think it'll eventually be outlawed for all of us. Too easy for a cop to stand on the side of the road and look at us through his binoculars while checking for seatbelts and see if we're on the phone -earpiece or not- and give us a $50.00 or so ticket.

I guess then it'll be time to get one of those Cobra bluetooth CB's. :biggrin_2551:

It gets illegal and the bears decide to do that, I will just hold the phone up to my ear, not a phone call mind you, then let them PROVE I was on the phone.

No need to prove anything if they can take a picture of it...

So, there is going to be a law that you cannot hold the phone to your head?

Sorry, but they have to prove the phone was being used.

But as a driver you should know that you are guilty until proven innocent, beyond a doubt! And doing that may be expensive!

    It would not be expensive.

They have too many loopholes here.

Drivers wear the headphones and are not talking. Going to ticket them?

We live in a country that you are considered innocent until proven guilty.

You just show the phone to the officer, and when he looks at it, he has to prove it was used.
