You ever think some of them might be in college?

I don't think all the kids are lazy now a days but I have a nephew that want's to get a dirt bike so he can ride with me, I told him to get a job and he can save for it and by the end of the summer he'll have enough, even offered to help pay for it if he did, he said no one will hire him because he's too young (he is only 12). I told him get a paper route but he wants nothing to do with that. He's a smart kid but he can't be bothered to work for anything. I remember I cut the lawn, shoveled the driveway, and whatever other chores my parents found for me and I did it for free, he gets an allowance for it lol (yes I'm jealous). Now I sound like an old man, #### punk kids :biggrin_2559:

Wish my parents would of handed everything to me. Started cleaning BMW / Mazda garages when I was 12. My dad paid me 20$ every month. Pick up oil rags / mats, move equipment, raise cars, sweep, mop, power spray, and squeegee. Around 14 he started cleaning the dealership buildings. I'd take out trash, vacuum, clean bathrooms, sweep, mop, and lock up. Then we got a restaurant building added to our plate. Let me tell you, it was gross. I would clean the bathrooms, vacuum, pick up / place the chairs back (300+ chairs), and various other things. (They only clean the garages now but this was a daily thing I did after school / weekends).

I did this everyday until I was 18. I got a job after finding out I needed work experience to put me in a good spot for hiring at certain company's. So I went out and got a job working Logistics. I'm currently 20, still working my ### off paying for my CDL School cost (Almost done) and not once to this day have I asked my parents for gas money, pay my bills, or other expenses I've occurred. Because I know how much money I will make, I know what I can spend, I know if I can afford it or not, and I know how to save. Yes my parents gave me my car paid off (11 yrs old), but I MAKE the insurance payment every month.

So not all "younger" generation is lazy. Lucky for me that my parents taught me self-discipline and to work as hard as I can until the day I die. I say that because I can't imagine going months without work, it would drive me nuts. I simply love it. Trust me, I've trained plenty of people way older then me who think that starting out in a "Entry" level position like Logistic is going to be easy for them even though they've been out of work for 2 years with NO physical work.

Yes, for every 1 older worker calling out in 1 months time.. We have 15 younger ones doing it once a week. So they are more likely to show up and their work ethics are always better then younger workers. My work ethics have always been the same, go to work, shut your mouth, and get it done. Thanks to my dad hammering those words in my head, I've stuck with it. Maybe harsh, but I'd rather get all my work done then, in the few minutes I might have shoot the BS. Standing around talking when there is stuff to be done is not acceptable to me.

Just my 2c. And in 2 1/2 years at where I'm at.. I've called out 3 times for family emergence. (Hospital reasons). I also respect the older generation more then the younger because to the younger crowd this is a temporary job so they don't care. Or their parents might be forcing them to work. Yes this is a temporary job for me, but I'd rather do a great job then having to redo it later.

Sorry for my badly planned out paragraphs but the more I think of this subject the more I want to add. I shall close this out now. Also I should note, they also taught me to not b**ch about things. Just shut up and deal with it. Haha I do have a great relationship with my parents though.

I agree with you and was raised the same way so don't take this as me being a smart alec, but my father always told me to work hard, save your money, buy a piece of land in the country, then when you get into your 50's you can tell the world to go to hell lol.

Not smart alec at all. For me, I know that I may retire in my later years. But for now, work as hard as I can until my body doesn't allow it no more.
