I'm not saying what I would do. But truck or shovel as a CMV driver your are required to document anytime that your receive compensation for work. Could be hanging drywall on your day off and paid. Your suppose to account for it.

look at the small trucks that service X-Ray equipment. HD pickup with 'special' cap and Radioactive placards...sure does need a CDL and HM endorsement and certificates PLUS all the extra crap they throw at Radioactives..

Pickups transporting 'materials of trade'; i.e. a plumber's torch kinda haz mat in quantities expected to be used by the everyday tradesman, are exempt along with materials the shipper certifies as 'Limited
"Quantity" so placardable HM makes the difference.

    Otherwise do it!

If you were on the clock going for physical and always when going to donate for a Random Drug or Alcohol test is on duty not driving. DOT auditors are known to check Random testing records against HOS records and treat any not logged as falsification, which makes things get expensive when they are finished.

Most of the time safety alerted me of impending DL or medical expirations. Most of the time I had my private physician do my physicals when on home time. I seen this guy every 3 or 4 months so really it was just get him to fill out the form on a visit. As to drug screens most of the time I was either home or in a terminal and safety sent me or did the collection. I rarely logged any of it. Not sure if I would today or not.
