My DUI is 4 years, 3 months old. Any companies hire with training with the DUI?

the larger the carrier usually the more strict they are about these kind of things actually. They're all about insurance liability so squeaky clean driving records are usually required.

For the most part it is 5 years. I've seen a few where it's 3 years but they'll have other rules like must not be incarcerated in the past 5 years so you are back to square one.

I would give it 5 years. I would also get independent training like at a community college. Then you aren't committed to anyone. Colleges are generally cheaper, have better training and have no qualifying gov't Stafford loans anyone can get.

...sounds like you'd be better off driving a cab, sorry about your DUI.

Conincidentaly some of those CC courses are 8 - 9 months long, so that would put you right at the 5 year mark and a lot more options will open up for you.

Thank you to all of you for your advice. I do of course want a job, but I have also been doing a lot of research on what truck driving entails. It appeals to me because I have worked in an office most of my career. In addition to making money, I am also looking for more freedom and independence. It seems that truck driving would provide me that based on what I have researched.

A little over four years ago I got a DUI, which was later reduced to a wet and reckless. I kind of lost hope for a while and prolonged making payments to get my license back until recently. I don't know if this will have an effect on this drawn out waiting period. Thank God I went to school and learned about computers so I had something to fall back on while waiting in anticipation of getting back into the trucking scene.

But trucking is all I want to do, its who I am. Currently, I reside in California but was pondering moving to the South, possible mid-west. Does any one know of some solid trucking companies that will give me a shot.

I don't know brother, DUI is pretty serious business. I'm not judging you but with something like that in your past do you really think becoming a professional driver is appropriate? The idea of trucking is extremely appealing to the long term unemployed. I've seen tons of guys like myself and my cousin come in to the industry and later land good paying local jobs, guys like us who were unemployed or "creatively resourceful" for years before getting in. But for every one like us there are two or three who can't hack it past 90 days for a #### ton of reasons, and end up never getting behind the wheel of any truck ever again.

You may find a few really terrible training companies who are willing to take you at the five year mark, but until then I'd suggest exploring other avenues of employement which cater to the long term unemployed. Many warehouse and light industrial gigs hire entry level and pay union benefits and wages after 90 days...

I do not work for these guys and never have. In other words I am not recommending or warning you but according to the website you should be good to go.
