Why do you assume they do it for less?

If I was a framer and could work more efficiently than my compition and move on to the next job faster would I be an outlaw?

Inspection mode won’t let them go back farther than previous 7 days. And when I was on paper I only ever had 7 previous days in my binder just to keep them from getting too nosy.

Correct, you get my point. But if your present 29 days, nothing stops them.

    Nothing stops a audit either.

2CAN, D.Tibbitt and Long FLD Thank this.

Nobody who runs paper sits there and says “I miss my E-log”. There are lots of drivers who may like their E-log, but deep down they miss Paper. Paper logs are safer for owner operators, for the industry as a whole E-logs are safer. Good news is all us paper log guys will die, once that happens E-logs will just be “The Way”.

Or how about this is America, land of the free, home of the brave, and we get freedom to do what we want? To hell with Australia, Canada, and Europe.

    UturnGirl and starmac Thank this.

We can all do what we want. Just have to pay the consequences when caught.

Where do you draw the line? Is it just hours of service and the rest of the rules are ok? Or should there be no operating authority or insurance requirements? No weight regulations? Right or wrong, I don’t think a free for all is the answer. You’re younger so you don’t know any different. But a few years ago if you had intrastate authority for Montana you could’ve made a dang good living with your flatbed. Seems like every time regulations get relaxed things go downhill a little bit.

It is amazing how little time it takes to brainwash an entire industry. lol
Give it 5 years and most drivers will not even know paper logs ever existed, nor trucks used to have a shifter in them. lol

We did what we could but I suspect some congressman's brother-in-law owns the software company.

No. You can't. Because the darn thing catches itself up then your paper won't match because ELD logs by the minute and paper is divided into 15 min increments.
