Here How things have gone for me at Con-Way
Well I've been here from the end of 02/2012. Its now end of 09/2012. I have a total of 75878 Miles with this company. Now thats only PAID.. You get paid for the miles you dispatch you. Now i thought your suppose to be paid for deadhead home with a trailer. Not sure on this gonna try to get more info on this. The insurance sucks here to be honest.. But its better then nothing and its cheap 12 bucks a week. I don't plan on using it but if i get in an accident its there.. Dental sucks here too not worth it in my books. The miles you know try your best Del early on the loads you can don't sit more then needed at a truck stop cuz you will idle your truck. I have had problems with my MPG here. You have to hold a 6.3 MPG a month. How they do there MPG is stupid here. Its based on how much fuel you put in the truck not how much you used... I don't like getting lower then a 1/4 tanks you never know whats gonna happen out here. Anyway on weekends they will try to give you 500-600 mile loads ask your dispatch can we relay this. They more then likely will so you can stay moving. I see con-way as a better company then my last Which its way better. I worked for CRST.. There is down sides to this company but there all over. I love our Safety bonuses we get every 3months 1 cent a mile that you driven. honestly i think We need higher standards here. Ive seen that our accidents have gone up a lot here. When i started they where pretty low now there going up and up(No its not me lol). Trucking is not a job.. Its a LIFE style. Its not cut out for everyone but its in my blood most of my family has done it and i love it out here. Most of time i run central not that rare i go west or too far east or north. More Texas and around there. Get haz-mat and passport you will make more money cuz you have more options on where to go and what loads to get. We don't haul much haz-mat here. At con-way you are not told what way to go you choose that. I drive a T660 and its small but there great trucks. Now back on my idle time i always thought there was a mpg problem with my truck there not.. My truck gets 7.3 mpg my idle time has been killing me but its hard to sleep when its hot for me i have to be cold. Over all con-way is a good company one of the greater ones out here. Lets hope for some changes on some things so we can be a better company. any other questions or comments ask me:p

What do you mean by "on weekends they will try to give you 500-600 mile loads ask your dispatch can we relay this." ...?

You were paid dead head (with or without a TRL don't matter) because they failed to get you home within the eight days....Welcone to the unpaid team! I think those miles do not go against the trucks MPG (check w/FM) idle percent goes up the less paid miles u get , so I could see it causing a problem if ur only getting 2200-2400 per week...

    TruckerPete1990 Thanks this.

Every mile you drive you get .01 cent. If you have no accidents you get that .01 at end of every 3 month's it adds around 200-300 bucks to ur check.

And idlin u can just not 24/7 meanin go inside turn it off

    Antoxa Thanks this.

Don't let it worry you .....I've driven a 12 KW , 11 &12 Interntional ...& a 09 Freightliner ...the new truck are getting mind blowing MPG ....7.9 on a 1400 mi load @ 44K (KW) ...light loads I've even seen 8.9 /9.2 ....like he said ...just shut it off when u don't need it running ...routing too , u should be 30-100 mi to what they pay...you can always msg them and ask for the paid routing...just means sometimes you run on roads like US 54 in Ok,KS instead or the interstate ...good way to "see America"

Country roads are the best. Don't worry about your mpg you should be fine like Paul said. And 900,000 what u mean? All company's do that pick it up relay load in drop yard and get another load. Most loads don't del into Monday's on the weekend
