A/T another meal you can make in a crock pot bean soups all kinds. one I like the best is Butter Bean soup I guess you could try it with canned lima beans you just let em crock pot a while and they'll thicken up. We like tho cut up some smoked beef sausage and cut and chop red & yellow bell peppers, celery and onions, be sure you have some bottled water check it every break make sure the water don't cook out.

Now as for me today, being how I'm home, not yet living in a truck; and there is 4" of snow and now a good coat of ice on the road everywhere.I have the fireplace going with a big ole sweet potato wrapped in foil and stuck in there, and as soon as it starts gettin soft and my coals get right, I'm throwing me a cowboy steak on there and mmmm mmmm good!:yes2557: I know I'm rubbing it in a bit but look at this way, I'm home eating good today but I ain't making NO DANG MONEY:biggrin_25523:
Be safe out there A/T and all

Hi American Trucker, let me introduce myself to you......I am Wedge's wife. I've heard alot about you. Just a word of warning....if you don't worry about the sodium, sugar and fat contents now, you will definitely be worrying about them in a few years and I'd hate for that to happen to you. :Ambulance car v2: I work in the medical field and have seen it happen over and over.

By the way, the recipe I gave you is enough to feed an entire family. The experienced drivers are giving you good advice...just heed the sodium.:yes2557:

    Welcome to the Forum!

I try to eat as healthy as possible, although its not always easy out here. I'm hopeing now that I have the microwave and the fridge/freezer I can start cooking some real food.

I stopped putting extra salt on my food a few years ago, and for the most part have cut down on the soda.

I sure would like to not become one of those 500lb wonders we all see rolling out of trucks :biggrin_2559:

If you have a fridge in your truck, look for some stuff called 'Better Than Bouillon'. It's a paste base that you mix with water. Works really well.

Use the cornstarch, mixed with a little water for thickening (after the stew is ready), and toss in a couple of bay leaves when you start the stuff!

    If ya like chili:

    1 Lb Ground beef
    32 OZ Tomato Sauce
16 OZ (or so) Chili Beans
    Onion & Green Pepper (Optional)

Salt, pepper, chili powder . . . a little tobasco if you like it hot.

Best to brown the ground beef before . . . You can do that in a microwave

As an add on to that, I had the beginning of an ulcer at the age of 17, and the only way I could have a burger was to cook it in the microwave . . . boring!

Haven't you guys seen that new informercial about the new microwave dish that actually grills stuff?! I have watched it over and over in utter amazement! I have almost been convinced to place an order! That thing would be awesome for the truck if it really works. If I can find it on the web I'll post a link.

A.T. you are doing great man! Your weeks are averaging out extremely well! Does Watkins send your statements to you guys over the qualcomm? Make sure you are keeping good track of everything you do. Payroll makes mistakes. I used to find quite a few mistakes and it really adds up. Not that they are slack, but that there is a lot to keep track of and also decipher.

I think you should get a little friendly competition going between you, Chralb, and Walstib. Once a month see who gets the most miles for the whole month. Everyone throw $20 in the pot, winner gets a $60 bonus at the end of the month. When we drove for Central the company used to do that. We made top team almost every month and we got paid a really good bonus for doing it! They also gave us crap like jackets, hats, gift certificates etc... Not that money isn't motivation enough but its fun to try and out do each other! Let's see, who's the better trucker?:biggrin_25514:

I was told the other day you can cook Chili in a crock pot with raw hamburger and it will cook up fine. Better to use ground turkey the hamburger and tastes just fine too.
