My Experiance with Watkins Shepard!

So today since I'm home I decided to get my truck inspected since it exspires next month anyway and I need to renew the Registration....


So I take it to the shop I always take it to for inspections and he says, I can't do it here you have to take it to the Dealership your trucks to big for the lift.....so I say Nope don't think so I've brought my truck here every year since i've owned it, and he says well were not the same people.....and so I say Ok I'll take my $25 elsewhere and left


So I took it to another shop I know and trust and they come out and say I wanna show you something...and they start talking about Tie Rods and this kid fresh out of highschool wants to show me my bad tie rods

So I'm like you can get up now I dont need you to show them to me I'm a mechanic I know what they are lol


Then there like I've got a price quote to fix them for you. $594.48 for 1 inner tie rod and 1 outer tie rod (on differant sides of the truck)




And this dipsheet has the nerve to ask if I want them to do it now

So I said, I'm sry you must have missed something.....I'M A F*&CKING MECHANIC!!!!!!!!


and he says and.....



So I say why in the H%LL would I pay $600 for you to spend 30 min putting $75 worth of parts on my truck???


and he says well why did you bring it in for us to Inspect it...


I said because I don't have a NC State Inspection License and I don't have a Offical NC Inspection Station in my driveway......


then he says sooo do you want us to fix it?






so I said NO!!!!!!!!! Get my truck Out off of your lift! it was $13 and change for that BS so I handed him $20 took my keys and left.

Now had they not shown that they are completely retarded I would have brought it back to them to let them do an Alignment after I change the Tie Rods since I cant do that without the computer stuff, but I think I'll be looking for another shop

thats my biggest problem with NC, EVERY single year I have to go through this crap, I was worse when I had all my cars, it drove me crazy trying to get a truck and 2 cars to pass! lol


Last year they failed the truck the first time to and for what......The Highbeam Indicator light was burnt out.....

they told me to take it to the dealership as thats according to them the only place that can fix that stuff.....


So I left and went to auto zone and picked up 10 light bulbs and went home and it took me 20 min to replace all 10 bulbs in the cluster...I figured might as well do them all since I was back there....I was back in the shop passing the inspection within 45 minutes lol

when I lived in VT is was great, we'd pull a car in flash the lights beep the horn and if they had tread on the tires we'd slap a sticker in the window and pull it back out simple as that....5 minutes tops


I can't wait to move to SC, they dont have any inspections PERIOD! lol

In NC if you have a 1996 or newer car they go through it with a fine tooth comb, My step moms 2002 Chrystler failed the emissions....they told her she needed to replace BOTH cats $3000 in just parts alone! what a freakin joke.



OH one more funny story, I blew the oil seals around the Valves in my civic and so it would smoke lots of white smoke. Apprently a cop saw it and filed some kinda report with the state and the state of NC sent me a BILL for $1,500 for haveing a smokeing car....and it said I had 30 days to send in the Money and to show proof that I had it repaired I wrote Go F%$#k yourself on it and mailed it back in and never heard another word about it
