yes I have a 2004 Freightliner Columbia.
As far as training, it all depends on you. Some people pickup driving/ backing these trucks very quickly like myself, while other people my need a little more time before it becomes second nature. But if your going to a Tech School to get your CDL you should be getting some good training and allot of seat time. And in the 10 Day Orientation they go over most of what you should have learned to make sure you understand it, and they also teach you a bunch of stuff like how to speed match, shift while going up and down a 6% grade just under 80,000lbs, some backing.
Sleepers look much bigger in pictures then then are in real life, as I'm sure you and your wife probably saw at the dealership. Mine is 70 inches, with most of that being the bed.
Watkins Shepard has done nothing but impress me ever since the first time I called Roxy. I think once you and your wife start school you'll realize just how easy driving a big truck really is. It just like a Really big SUV. lol
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, If I can't answer it someone else here will be able to....

#### dude i feel spoiled now the truck they gave me was not only nice but pretty #### clean. the only thing that was nasty were the cupholders and i just went over the rest with some cleaner just to satisfy my germaphobe side. theres not a lot out here that phases me but if i had gotten a nasty smoked in truck i would not have been nearly as happy.

Does the power inverter work the same as little ones you plug in the lighter?
How long before it kills the battery?
We plugged in inverter to charge cam batteries or computer had to leave the car running or batt. dead in no time.American-Trucker Thanks this. -
what are some the extras we should be thinking about, I assume they're ours to get, but will the company help with install. I'm actually pretty handy but I don't want to mess something up.

Wedge I noticed you were from Griffin, did you go to tech school in Griffin for cdl trng.
Wedge Thanks this. -
Yes is works exactly the same, the only differance is that its wired to the battery. Well it should and has until today gone 10 hours and still have plenty of battery left to start the truck, but I think I might have a bad battery or two or three lol I donno. But you should be able leave the truck off for your 10 hour break no problem.
The only thing you might want to have them install is an inverter, I did my CB myself ( theres only 2 power wires, 1 ground, plus the antenna/ mic/ and speaker wire) and you can change the radio too, but I'd have them do that just because I'm lazy and theres 15 or so wires to do on a radio.

From those pics doesn't look like you have any WHITE SHEETS.. They are required by law for some weird reason. Got stopped at the 546 on 20 in Texas the other day and he asked me for my log book which is e logs now and my white sheets... Just letting you know its still on the books. Don't know why we need them but we are suppose to have um.
