Hey At.. You mentioned your inverter was hardwired to the battery. Ive read a lot of posts here that say if you have a company truck that is not allowed. Does W/S allow that? And did they install it or did you have to do it yourself?
Also you mentioned the radio.. If I worked for them and bought a new pioneer setup with XM radio would they install for you? Or could you have the place where purchased install it?
Of course if you get a newer truck down the line all of that stuff would have to be un installed too. Thx

WS will actually install the inverter for you. I have a 2000 watt inverter that was installed by the Helena shop wired direct to the battery, there is a built in breaker/fuse to protect the truck.

Good deal, Welcome to the family,

On the inverter, the shop will need to install all items that you need to have installed, I'm totally impressed with both the Helena and SFS shops, They have done a very good job on keeping my truck in tip top shape after "WarpDriver" had everything fixed on it when he was assigned to it. Take Care. TD24

Thanks for the info TD24, Wulfman, I'm going back over to Katlaw this Sat and look around again. AT if I read your post right it sounded like you did your 10 day in N. Carolina. I had the impression you had to go to Missoula?

I really want to thank you guys for the input, I was a little skeptical at 10 day training right out of CDL school and then on the road, especially with some of the posts from trainers about CDL schools and actual training.

    Thanks Again
    Randy

Randy, there's more room than meets the eye. I had the same impression when I first checked it out. There is plenty of room for straight backing, offset, and alley dock. The shifting portion will take place most likely on the road (I'll know tomorrow). There is a driveway that completely circles the facility, but there isn't enough room to run the trucks through all the speeds (all the trucks have 10 speeds). They do use that driveway for training purposes.

If you really want to get a feel for the school, it's best to visit during the week, middle of the day is best.

Like TD pointed out, W/S won't have a problem with tuition reimbursement, seeing that Katlaw is one of their preferred schools.

Hope it works for you. It's a pretty good school, so far. :biggrin_255:

I will be in Missoula on the 8th. Other than Winter clothes and toiletries, should I bring any bedding and my own towels. Trying to pack light, but I don't want to have to buy anything I will definitely need unless I just happen to forget something. Do I need things like sheets, pillow, blanket, or can they be purchased close by after I get my truck.

How is alley docking different from straight or offset backing?...

After reading through the sleeper berth provisions.. it doesn't say anything about white sheets.. BUT I called the Dept of Public Safety office here in Texas and the said.. Your sleeper must be properly equipped to sleep. She then told me which means you must have sheets pillow some sort of blanket and curtains either that go around your windshield or between the seats and the sleeping compartment. She also said they use to require white sheets for emergency use ie covering up bodies.. or make shift first aid.. having said all that I could not get her to tell me why I was asked for my white sheets during a recent dot.. Maybe the officer lost his.

You won't need bedding/towels for your stay at orientation. Depending on where your truck is depends on if there's anywhere close by to get things you need. And your rig could be anywhere!
