My Experiance with Watkins Shepard!

as far as I know, the only "regional" they have is the east coast, the Penski trucks are only licensed on the eastern half of the US anyway.


I do agree though the center of the US is the best place to drive, from the Mississippi river to the cali border if I could stay in that area I'd be sooo happy haha Ya'll can keep CA and the east coast lol

Yes it's still OTR, a most of the guys in my orientation class are regional and they get home pretty often, most of them were from NY and NJ. You will deffinatly have your own truck and it will have a sleeper.

You can do it....they have ferries (I think). If W/S would let me go there I would do it in a secound!

I was planning on getting up today at 9:30am and taking a shower and then playing on the computer and then delivering 1 hour early.

Well this is what happend:

I was so exhausted I ended up going to bed at midnight and so I woke up at 5:30am and couldn't get back to sleep so I just got up and took a shower and played on the computer, but I got bored so I figured I would call the customer to see if I could just come then.....my QC said my Appt was for 14:00 FIRM it said it in TWO places. So when I call I say "I have a 2pm appt and was wondering if I come now can you receive it early" and the woman says "they don't ushally receive at 2 but I'll transfer you to receiving". Then the receiving guy says "you don't have a 2PM appt, you HAD a 7:30AM appt that you missed and we leave at noon on fridays and my guys WILL leave on time today" At this time it was like 10:20am and I was 1.5 hours away from them........So I say "my paper work says I have a 2pm appt" and he says "Well its wrong, I don't know where you got this erroneous (sp?) information but its WRONG!" so I said "If I come there now can you receive it today?" then he says "YOU NEED TO GET YOUR ### OFF THE PHONE AND GET YOU ### HERE, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!"

So I head down there and get there at 11:50am. And he proceeds to yell at me somemore through the speak box thing at the gate for 20 minutes before he decids to let me in. and on top of all his yelling he says "I outta charge you for being late and making me keep my guys here late"

At this point I was ready to back my truck away from there gate and tell this guy to Kiss my ##*. BUT I took a deep breath and let this guy keep yelling away at me. Then finally he opens the gate and says back into door 10 and "you better know how to back that truck up!"

So I back it in and I called the dispatcher who gave me this load.......and she said my appt time was 14:00 and that the CUSTOMER was wrong, and that they'd take care of it (she didn't know I was already in the door getting unloaded, she thought he was refusing to receive the load) so I told her they were just about done unloading me, I was just calling to find out what happened and to find out why I was getting yelled at.

Just after I backed in another W/S truck pulls up to the gate.....and the guy is yelling at him to, I'm 100 feet away and IN my truck and I can hear this guy yelling at the other W/S driver, he told him "We will NOT receive that today and we're not open tomorrow either" he refused to open the gate, so the driver was on the phone with dispatch as well.

Then on my way out I stopped and talked to the other W/S driver who was STILL outside the gate, he said his Appt time was for 1pm and that they refused to receive it until there open again.

Oh ya and they wrote in BIG writing on my bills that I was more then 2 HOURS late.


But then I dead headed back to conover, NC and I had asked dispatch for a load going west, and thats just what I got!!!! I'm going to MN, Thats one more state that I've never been too! woo hoo

I got as far as KY for the night, I'm trying to figure out if I can squeeze in a 34 hour reset on this load.



And to top today off, I didn't get a paycheck . I wasn't able to get to a terminal till last friday to turn in my envelopes so I don't get paid until NEXT friday lol and the same thing happened this week, I just turned in 2300+ miles plus 16 stops today in conover so I wont get paid for that for 2 more weeks haha I'm gonna have to start FedExing in my envelopes








But after all that I'm still alive so I guess it wasn't that bad after all lol
