come on dude, seriously!!! you "found" them on craigs list if you found they were hireing. then you add about an equipment hauling job that you dont qualify for, whats the point?
listen, you are the one who puts your entire work life on this blog. if ya think all your responses are going to be peaches and cream you have fooled yourself.
if you want all cotton candy coated responses , it aint gonna happen.
you are young guy who doesnt know what direction he wants to go yet, nothing odd about that at all, it is the usual routine honestly.
one thing you do need to stop and consider is what happens to you if you start on a cycle of not staying at a job for very long and hop from carrier to carrier looking for the next green pasture. many really good jobs wont consider you because of that.
and you may realize that linehaul or local work while it may seem nice, may just not be for you in the longhaul.
i am going to give to you straight, young man. many here think you have some fanstastic knowledge of trucking, you dont as of yet. i think you may be getting ahead of yourself.
you show very little patience and as i have told you before, every thing that doesnt suit you is stupid, dumb etc etc , and you complain about it.
fact is , slow down a little, give some deep thought to what you really want to do in trucking or even stay in trucking and go from there.
now take that for whats it worth, but if you are gonna put it all out here for all to see, you might catch some grief.
i speak from experience young man, i ran a round like a chicken with my head cut off like you at one point in my life.
for one, until you make the 50,000 plus it isnt reality.Gearjammin' Penguin, ACH1130, hotrod1018 and 10 others Thank this. -
im 95% sure we figured out whats wrong with the boat, so im ordering parts now.
Got some great news too, i am officially on the driver list for 4 Nascar teams, my dads working on getting me in to work the Truck Race and the Nationwide race the weekend of the 600. Apparently once you work for them once and dont screw up your in (not as in hired full time but next time they need a driver your getting a call). My dad just worked richmond last week, and after being a Mark Martin fan since day one my dad Finally got to meet him! He was talking to a few drivers and a golf cart pulled up behind my dad and beeped the horn, my dad turns around and its jack roush behind the wheel and mark martin in the passenger seat! how cool is that, then he got to shoot to sheet with Carl Edwards a few min later, too cool. My dads also going to be working the next truck race here in charlotte....if you watch it on TV keep an eye on the #51 Pit you'll see him.

I am going to chime in as well here and it is not intended to degrade you or demean you one bit, so pay attention.
Truck driving jobs suck as much as YOU want them to be, if you ever want to get ahead learn some humility and grow up or mature a little. This occupation has no room for those who snivel and whyn about it all the time, grow a pair and man up.
You have had three jobs and not stuck to one long enough to know if it sucked or not, most times cut and runs will catch up to you and McDonald's will be your next gig.
The grass looks green on the other side, but when you step into the pasture up to your hips in cow pies that old job starts looking not so bad. Count your lucky stars you have a job, plenty of people would slit your throat to get in your shoes and do it with a smile.
No one can teach anyone who knows it all, time for learning every day. -
I'm not whineing this is called a blog, i write what i experiance and feel, period. I dont sugar coat anything, i dont kiss companys butts on here, and im not here to trash any companys.
I was at Watkins 14 months, i was there more then long enough to know that it didnt suck, they are a great company. I just didnt really like the LTL, and Lumping furniture that weighed 4 times as much as i do. And i was really interested in Flatbeding and i had an opertunity to try it with a good company at .40cpm so i left Watkins at .32cpm for a .08cpm raise....
Then I went to Lone Star, I loved working there, 4 months consitantly 3000-3554 miles EVERY week i was employed, they take GREAT care of everything they own from equipment, to terminals, to employees. The miles were great, the money was insane. Every person i met while working there was great from drivers to office people.
Where i am now, i like line haul, i like not having to open my map, i like not having to listen to my GPS Beach and Moan all day long as it sits OFF in my bag for emergencys and odd ball runs to out of the way terminals. Most of the drivers i work with are very nice, most have been here 5-20+ years. Could the terminals, trucks, trailers, dolloys, shops, be better? yea, the same could be said about alot of companys. I dont even mind working nights, would i prefer to work 1st shift...of course but this really isnt bothering me as much as i thought it would. Do i enjoy working from 5:30pm to 9am, then driving 45 min home in morning rush hour traffic, getting 4-5 hours of sleep then getting to fight afternoon rush hour to get back and do it all over again, not so much but its part of the job, this area of trucking, and i knew that before I took the job.
I am also having the opertunity to have a life outside the truck. I have yet to get a real paycheck that will be next week so im not complaining about the money either.
i hope that clarifys what your reading as "whineing", i'm not going to sit here and waste my time posting about only the good parts of being a line haul driver...people follow my blogs because i post it all, good, bad, rants, pics, videos, $$, etc.
