I took off from mid January til mid February because of an injury. And took off mid September til mid November for harvest. Along with a week or two here and there. So it's all in how you want to run.

    James Burris Thanks this.

Yea, I took off little over a month last year to run for Old Dominon. Money was fantastic there but I didn't like to live to work.

And really didn't like driving a company truck. I like my little old 99 pete.

Skateboardman and all the other Mercer O/O's how have things been going? I spent the last couple nights reading most of the pages as I'm interested in becoming an O/O eventually and Mercer has been on the top of my list so I've been reading as much as possible about them.

Just interested in how the start of 2014 has been treating all you guys?

Really to early to tell yet. From what I've seen on the load board looks like there is good freight out there.

I loaded in Houston jan2 , delivered mon in j ville,fl loaded in jviile to nj for wed, reload to savannah,ga, home for the weekend and load in sav monday to bg,ky to deliver next Tuesday,

to the truck rates were 1.86, then 1.83,2.00, and 2.50 with weights of 36,000, then 34,000, then 25,000, then 12,000. that's in order of loading. looks to be starting off well. the 10 day weather forecast is guiding my load selection lol.

I can't say myself, as I took Jan. off to tear into my motor and clutch. January is usually the worst month for flatbed freight almost anywhere.

January has been pretty decent for me so far. Have had to do a little more dead heading than I would do in spring and summer but that is expected this time of year. Overall rates seem good and there seems to be enough freight to go around. Not having any problems getting the loads I want. I didn't leave home until the 6th so I missed a week but like I said so far I am pleased with January.
