I just spotted a Central tractor pulling a vitran trailer

I've been seeing it pretty regularly in Chicago. -
Does most of the truckers on that company had a bad time there?

When I worked in Toledo there was a guy that had been there since 2007 (an elderly man in Central years). He had the same run as me. Worked the same hours as me but made way more than what I used to make there. Why? Because when the economy took a dump in 2008 they cut top pay for all new hires from $23/hr to $19/hr. They stopped paying 40 to 50 cpm and started going with "flat rates" which were nothing more than a smoke screen to distract morons away from the fact they were now making 30 to 33 cpm. Everyone hired before this period was "grandfathered in" and got to keep their old payscale. I'm assuming that's what happened with Vitran drivers. -
Okay, Now I know the reason about it. Thanks Oi!

Wow man that's bad, no wonder they can't keep drivers

I started for Central last week and quit Tuesday morning. I told the terminal manager that the tractor I was driving needed new steer tires. One of them was cupping bad and the other had a bounce to it that made the whole truck shake. Needless to say on my way back to the terminal, one of the steer tires blew out as I was going down the interstate. I told them that the other tire needed to be replaced too. They said they weren't going to. I quit right then and there. It's not worth it.
