I say keep it going. Maybe it will give some a reality check of what this industry is truly becoming. If nothing else it may make these newbs that the schools seem to promise the world, too question and research before they fall for the lines of crap.

Thank you. I have been spying on this thread since the begining, and have found it to be very eye opening. You sir are to be comended for not trying to kill everyone around you with the way this post had started out. All that time that was wasted at docks waiting to get going.:biggrin_2552:
    Good luck, and be safe.

well this week is already starting to suck! I drove 141 actual miles but will only get paid for 63 of them! I took my 10 hr break in J-ville, 30 miles from the recv'r. Got up at 1300 to deliver, drove the 30 miles, took 2 hrs to unload.
I had a load for the next day, 1065 miles to San Antonio, TX delivering Friday, kinda crappy. But it got canceled before I could get mt. So I get mt, no load. Drive 30 miles back to the T/A, almost get there and they call with a new load! Go back 30 miles into J-ville, p/u at 2000, drive 366 miles to Charlotte, NC. THEY GIVE ME 25 HRS TO GET THERE AND I CANT DELIVER EARLY! Thanks for nothing! And I gotta kill 4 hrs before I can load so I eat dinner and take a nap.
P/u the load at 2000, drive 63 miles to Brunswick Ga, fuel and gonna call it a day. What's the point of getting to Charlotte tonite? there wont be anywhere to park and I cant deliver till 2100 tommorow.
    140 ACTUAL MILES, 63 paidmiles
    $21.42 earned
    6.25 hours worked
    $3.42 per hour!!!
I dont think tommorow is going to be any better, but I can always dream!

not necassarily, you see the 1st 30 miles I drove today was unpaid as Iwas already in Jacksonville, the 2nd 30 miles was unpaid as it was undispatched and I was going back the the truck stop to wait for my next load, the 3rd miles was also unpaid as the company pays empty and loaded miles but since my delivery and my p/u were in the same city, it paid 0 miles.
Someone help me out. I think Dallas is the worst city for this scenario. I seem to recall a trip where I had to drive around 60 miles from where I delivered to my next p/u but b/c it was technically in the same city, I got paid 0 miles!
The worst example of this I can recall was a grocery store load I did in Alburqurque. 8 stops all in the city, took me 12 hrs, got paid 0 miles! Had it not have been for the $15/stop, I would have made nothing! As it was, I only made $105 for 12 hrs of work that day!
Yet another reason why pay per mile out to be outlawed! and drivers should be paid by the hour for EVERY HOUR WORKED!

    You are lucky.

I worked for a company that would not let you leave the place you emptied at. I have been forced to sit on a public street and wait. Any unauthorized movement would be treated as OOR miles and billed to the driver.

It was below -15. The APU would not run. The truck did not idle. I delivered to a town 30 miles from our yard. The truck needed to go to the shop. Dispatch was told. They had me sitting there in the cold.

Finally had enough and drove to the yard.

First comment. You will have to pay for the miles. I said really?

I was not going to accept any loads with a broke truck.

He said you might get fired.

I said, who cares. At least I will be warm.
