We are also grossly underpaid considering Mcdonalds employees can go home and do whatever they what when they are off.

We are tethered to a truck with 1 day off per 7. If you divided your numbers by how many hours each day you actually were away from home unable to do what you want, see your family, take care of your house, you'd be pretty depressed.

Well most of us OTR are.

Most of us ARE pretty depressed.. I believe trucking is hitting new lows, as are many other industries. And at my age I don't think I'll see it getting much better. Pay and benefits just keep falling off, and most benefits will never return. An I don't want to hear how great LTL, etc, is. They're are all going down hill. I wish I was 25 again, I wouldn't choose this line of work. Back on topic, How much longer you sticking it out Trucker Dave??

Well, either b/c of the current economy or my previosly mentioned job-hopping or both, the prospects for quitting and finding something better are slim and none! And I think Slim just left the building. With 3 kids at home, really, what choice do I have? As long as I have to play the game on their field, using their ball, I have to play by their rules!
It just sucks ! I get more depressed and angry with every passing day! I really thought that after all these years of driving that I'd be doing alot better than this. Yet year after year, it just gets worse!

Samething happening with us. I got dinged 14 times in the last two months for speed not matching (88 mph in a truck governed at 60) and being 15 minutes off. I have nerve damage and can't draw a straight line even with a straight edge. Some how the computer deterimines that I'm off by that much. Really it's just company getting scared and hanging the driver out.

My company thought I had a couple of violations on my logs. I asked what the dates and hours were and compared them to my copies. It didn't match at all. The lady in charge of checking the logs ended up fired. :biggrin_2559:

    606 miles
    10.5 hrs on duty
    $206.04 earned
It was a good day except for having no a/c! Once again, no customers to deal with.
I'll let you know what happens tommorow as I am supposed to go to our yard in Olive Branch, MS to get the truck fixed. So no money tommorow, I'm sure.
Brand new truck, only 77,000 miles and no a/c. nice, made in America quality!
