My experience running 100% legal, if anyone cares.

nothing to report for yesterday. 0 miles, wasted the whole day in the shop. The idiots in the shop had my truck all day but didnt even look at the A/C until 1600. they didnt have the needed part so They had to order it, of course that means they wont have the part until 9/23 . If they would have looked at the #### thing right away, I would have been rolling already! Jerks cost me a whole day! They couldnt care less CUZ THEY GET PAID BY THE HOUR AND GO HOME EVERY #### NITE!!! I wanted to slap somebody stupid, but someone beat me to it.

My truck was still waiting on parts so I was asked to take it (with no a/c) to a customer , p/u a load, and bring it back to our Memphis yard. BTW, it was over 85 degrees most of the day. The plan was for me to work so the company didnt have to pay $48 in breakdown pay. you see the 1st 24 hrs you are broke down are free, you have to give them 48 hrs with no work to earn $48 in breakdown pay. Since I worked in the 2nd 24 hrs, I get nothing! What a bullshizz company to work for!

Another awesome day # Knight Refrigerated! Noon yesterday, they installed the part to fix my a/c, 10 mins later. it shorts out and catches fire! They still dont know what's wrong with it.
The company decides to give me a "loaner truck" to drive, it is the biggest piece of crap they could find! I'm not even sure it's roadworthy! I go from a 2010 387 Peterbilt to a 2006 volvo that has had the piss beat out of it! Everyone knows what a pain in ### that is!
Bear in mind, in the last 7 weeks, I have been home once for 31 hrs! and now I have no idea when I will get home again b/c before I go home I need to go back to Memphis to get the rest of my crap out of my truck as I only brought the minimun I would need in the "loaner".
The company wanted me to turn a 1000 mile run in 24 hrs, the legal run time for that load is at least 30 hrs, so they are pissed off. I told them yesterday I wasnt gonna make it on time, re-power or reschedule. they told me yesterday not to worry about it. So I didnt. this morning I get a call, they are all mad b/c I cant get there on time. I said "oh well, you dont care about my problems anymore, why should care about yours?" Besides I warned them the day before.
How much do you want to bet that once deliver or otherwise get rid of this load that there will no frieght for me till Moday morning?
2 reasons I havnt quit working here yet. 1. I dont have another job lined up yet and it doesnt look like I will anytime soon! 2. I almost dont care about another job but now, half my clothes and other stuff (tv, PS2 etc...) is stuck in Memphis TN! I could care less about my electronics but I really need the clothes!
So right now, I am headed to York, PA. The closest I will get to the house is 250 miles away! I have, at best, 1 weeks worth of clothes and no clue when I will get back to the rest of my stuff in Memphis or when I will get home! To make matters worse, my wife calls me this morning, crying. She is tired of being a single mom, going to bed alone, not being a family. Then she tells me the mortage hasnt been paid since July and she had to borrow money from a friend for groceries this week! Just great! and I cant even get out of the #### truck to find another job!
So, jtrnr, to answer your question, I have earned less than $60 since Tuesday morning. 3 days and $60!

you aren't bothering me at all! I wish all the newbies could read this and all our legislators as well!. Lest anyone think my experience is unique, let me assure you, it is not. If your company has any device or system with GPS techonolgy, they are required to provide that data when they get audited. And your paper logs are required to match that GPS data. I believe every commerical vehicle will required to have some sort of EOBR in the next 4 years. So to everyone out there bending the rules, be prepared to downsize your way of life. You wont be able to turn to same number of miles that you do today. It's just a natter of time.

 

This is the 38th week of the year, 37 if you dont count the week I took off to go to Boy Scout camp with my 2 sons. Thr company policy is 1 day off for every week out. Well, COUNTING MY WEEK OFF FOR CAMP, I have had only 21 days out of the truck so far this year!
To add insult to injury, so far my gross wages are $30263.17 (Please dont edit that number, Mods. I think people need to see it) and most of that was earned while running illegal! I'll be lucky to break $40K this year and get home more than 30 days out of the year!
