Thankfully my real short load was given to someone else! They had a load of beer in the Carlisle yard going to CT that someone dropped so I, against my distaste for the North East, decided to take it b/c it was more miles. It proved to be easier to deliver than I thought it would be, but I am out of my 14 in Milford, CT for the nite. I have a p/u at the docks in Camden, NJ in the a.m., so I still have to get thru NYC. I plan on getting up good and early to avoid as much traffic as possible. We will see how that goes.
I am still in this P.O.S. loaner truck and my regular truck is still broke down in Memphis, TN (with the other half of my stuff). And I still havent gone home. Its's been 57 days now! (But who's counting?) With no clue when I might get a load home either. I dont wanna play truckdriver no more, I wanna go home!

It was the best I could do as I was in the shop the 1st 3 days of the week and layed over on the 27th! Still not a professional wage.
So another week down the crapper! And now that I have to run legal, I cant even work a little harder to make up for all that down time. Aint trucking great! I hope the President has room for 1 more family on welfare b/c at this rate, I think we would be better off there! At least, I would be home alot more!

 

Believe me, I want to quit but a few things are stopping me.
1. I dont have another job lined up yet.
2. Given the state of the economy, it doesnt look promising, esp. for someone who job-hopped for quite a few years
3. I only have 1/2 my stuff with me in the loaner truck, the rest is in Memphis, TN
4. Knowing Knight Refrigerated like I do, they will most likely make my find my own way home, which as you know, I couldnt afford it. (the company has gone to great lengths to break me!)
So for now, they have me bent over and lubed up! All I can do now is grit my teeth and take it for a little longer. As soon as I get those problems solved then I can tell them what I really think!

As you can see by the numbers, it ended up being a crappy day! Started out great! Left the Pilot in Milford, CT at 0530, got across the GW bridge before 0700, made it to Camden,NJ and was loaded in less than 1 hour! (that is awesome for Del Monte) I got to our yard in Carlisle PA at 1200. So far, good day. I get a call from my dickspatcher. I have to clean out my stuff fro. the loaner truck that they were so kind to let me borrow (sarcasm alert!) and move into a different loaner truck. As if that wasnt bad enough, the truck I was to move into, the driver hadnt even started cleaning his crap out of it yet!
To rub salt in the wound, I dont smoke. The driver whose truck I was to use as another loaner was trying his best to smoke as many cigarettes as possible. The truck looks and smells like the bottom of an ashtray. (yuck!) So now I stink and all my stuff does too!
Well, b/c I had to screw around with swapping trucks and no one wanted to sign off on the condition of the truck I was dropping and picking up, I lost 5 hrs of driving time!
They tell me after I deliver this load on the 30th at Washington Court House, OH that I will have the next 3-4 days off! How nice of them (sarcasm alert!) since I have only been home for 31 HOURS IN THE LAST 58 DAYS! I will take the time off and IF I HAVE TO CHEW OFF MY LEFT TESTICLE TO GET A LOCAL JOB, THAT IS WHAT WILL DO!!!
I will keep you posted as to my progress or lack there of. I will most likely have to put up with Knight Refrigerated's garbage for a little longer till someone recognizes me for the awesome professional that I am and lets me out of my bondage to the Knight family. (I almost gope they come here and read this too!)
