Leaving Tuesday morning with my trainer. He's got a dedicated run from Dallas to New Jersey so that's all we'll be running. He seems like a really good trainer so I'm ready to roll. I've decided to keep an open mind about going company or IC and just learn what I can and make the best decision for me.

Anybody know what a company solo driver averages?
My recruiter told me that after the 90 day training period, you start at 25 CPM and drivers usually average 2,600 miles a week. -
Enjoying my experience so far, feel blessed to have a good trainer who is willing to share so much information. It's still early but I'm learning new things every day and I love driving this truck. I miss my family but who wouldn't? Been gone 1 month today. Gonna miss my youngest's first Christmas but better things to come. Take care and be safe!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year! This is my last week of training for phase 1, making 3 more runs before being dropped off for phase 1 upgrade in Dallas on Friday. I feel like I am a much better driver now than when I got on the truck but I still have a lot to learn and improve on. I've got to get home soon because my paper copy of my license expires on January 16th. Another thing I have learned is that England is setup to where in most cases but not all you are not making good money unless you are either a phase 1 or phase 2 trainer or running teams but the main money is if you're a trainer of some sort. The Dallas school director has said that if we lease we will only do 10 days of phase 2 training before being sent out on your own...

Sounds like bait to me dude. Don't take the bait. Be content as a company driver for now. Remember your own words...... "I still have alot to learn........".

Ain't it strange they require more training to drive their trucks than one you will pay to repair. They want to make leasing much easier to get into than company driving.
-
Yes I hate that they want to make it hard or less enticing to be a company driver. I know there would have still been bull to put up with at other companies but I'm thinking if I'd went somewhere that didn't have leasing like PAM, I wouldn't have to worry about it. But I didn't and now I do so I'll make do. Just trying to give an honest perspective.

If there is one thing that is nearly unanimous on trucking forum's, it's the warning to stay away from leasing until you know this business inside and out.
ProPilot Thanks this. -
But hey go ahead and lease from us and we will cut your training time. Thats freeking scarey right there
