I started JB Intermodal 2 weeks ago, and so far it has been a good position so far. I am working the hours, got my first pay check yesterday for my first full week and im not complaining. if you want to make the money, you definately have to put in the hours to do so. But so far, its been good. they keep me going. Im working a day shift position for the first time in my life and it is so far working out for me. I have read all the hates and likes with jb and i had a bad experience with them back in 2007, but gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again. but like i said , so far so good with intermodal. I am home everyday, i know what runs i am doing the next day before i go home which is great. next weeks pay check will be a little bigger since i worked a little more this week than last week. But for now, that is the only update I have about it.

What are you making there. I heard tons of story's and bad things about them but they do have local and at some point I was thinking of getting on with them. What is the mileage pay? Pay per week? Or bi weekly?

ok everyone .. its been about 8 weeks since i started at jb hunt intermodal .... here is the update so far as it is my experience there .. others may or may not have the same experience so you all have to remember everyone has different experiences with companies ...

i been here for almost 8 weeks ... i get paid weekly and the pay is not bad. i get 24 a drop and 31 a mile, i know it dont seem like much, but when you have a great DM who keeps you running it all adds up in a day and each day goes to the weekly paycheck ...

my DM is a young guy, and i have to admit, when i started here, i seen his age and i judged a book by its cover and he proved me wrong. he is a great DM, and being a young guy, he definately knows what he is doing. I told him when i started how much i needed to average each week gross so i know what my take home is so i can support my family off of it ..

now i am not one of those guys who says i want 1500 a week gross and etc, cause i dont pipe dream. It would be nice to make, but when you are local, its pretty far fetched to hit it .... but i do well and that is what matters...

its mostly drop and hook and each run averages about 28 miles one way and drop the loaded, grab the empty and come back and get another loaded trailer .....

the co-drivers i see everyday are a awesome group of people ... whenever i needed help or had any questions, i got answers from them if not i go to my DM and i get my answers .. but all in all, it is a great experience working there and i cant complain so far ... jb hunt intermodal is a division that i thought i would never thought would be this comfortable working in .. but it is ...

so there you have it so far ... i havent seen any drivers quit, i havent heard any other drivers complain about big things .... some had some complaints about a few things, but they even admitted the problems were minor and they are happy here ... but they all have respect for the DM and they all know he knows what he is doing despite his age .....

That's really great to hear. I know we all need money to support our families, but it's not the only thing. Feeling good about going to work each day, working with people with whom you respect & that they respect you, is huge. Sounds like you've found the best of both worlds. That's fantastic.

I used to be an account manager for JB Hunt DCS (Dedicated Contract Service) for a local feed hauling account (I left in 2014 and went back to trucking with a flatbed company). lots of complaints, though most were NOT legitimate complaints. drivers were paid 41 per hub mile on all miles, and 28.50 per drop. account average was about 57K a year. the problem was that when the feed mill was broke down, we sat and didn't make money. I left due to the stress of my bosses trying to get me to make drivers run when it was unsafe to do so (blizzard in IA means trucks should park) and the customer having irrational expectations (your probably not surprised by this lol). my top driver made over 70K, and my worst driver (if I could have found a driver to replace him, he would have been fired) made over 40K. if JB Hunt is the place you want to go, ensure you check out every account that's out there. I had the highest paying DCS account in the nation. I transferred in a driver from an OTR account who made crap, was out 6 weeks at a time cuz "no loads going to IA". DCS and Intermodal are really picking up, and most of those get you home every day too. just my little bit of knowledge on the subject

Worked the intermodal out of Harrisburg for a few years as a regional rail driver and I was quite happy there. The pay was good. They kept me running and I was home every weekend. My dispatcher was a great guy that treated me with respect and listened when you had an issue and fixed it.Like any company I could nitpick and find a problem but they were all minor.

I make at least 1500 per week driving local and I'm home every night and I'm off on the weekends. I work for Air Liquide hauling cryogenic products. I disagree with your statement that 1500 per week is far fetched.

JB Hunt is notorious for being on the low end of driver compensation.

Your In Cali w/a teamster heavy carrier.. Come to other parts of the USA and you will find out the that JB hunt is not the only carrier in the race to the bottom.

We are a very small yard with 11 drivers. We happen to be teamster but we actually get paid less then the regular company drivers. The amount of power we have is very little.

I lived on the east coast and drove the eastern half of the country for 9 years so I know about different areas of the country.

I had a JB Hunt recruiter contact me once about a gig out of Stockton California paying 500 per week. That's ridiculous. JB Hunt has had a terrible reputation and continues to have a terrible reputation for the 24 years that I've been involved in trucking.
