Yeah, I was hanging out at the table closest to the door and at the end furthest from the speakers. I wasn't sure I'd even see any of you guys to be honest. I didn't socialize much tho... not my bag of tea really... I was there for the shirts and free food... and the $100 tire gift certificate I won in the raffle. LOL.

But, i'm sure we'll cross paths some day AZS. Whats your truck number (PM if you prefer)? I'll keep a look out for you in the future.

good get on the raffle, I was at that table for a bit when I was eating, had a black petro t shirt on that said Joplin Missouri on the back. No doubt I'll see you later on, truck 401 is me. Anyway, down here in Laredo now, drop this load tomorrow then we'll see.

Well hell, now I think I remember you actually. Well, remember the hat.. don't remember the face. I'm in 178. I'm still at home now but i'm leaving out about 5 today and gonna get about 2.5 hours in before stopping.. then just finish the last hour to San Marcos in the morning. I didn't see the need to sit in the truckstop all day so I took advantage of being home for all it's worth.

Was told they would probably keep me busy over tgiving doing repowers to get others home, but my DM wasn't sure.. but if it works out that way it works for me.. as long as i'm making money! I can only stand two unhealthy holidays a year... 4th of July and Christmas.. lol.

lol I wasn't wearing a hat, it's all good. Watch out if you're heading down that way, that Formula one race is going on in Austin and was supposed to be over 100k people at it. Probably be long over by the time you get near there though.

Make sure they preplan you! During my short stint there, I delivered a load of pipe first thing in the morning on Thanksgiving day to an oil field up in Wyoming. No pre-plan meant they were going to sit me all weekend until the broker they typically used in that area came back on Monday after the long holiday weekend. 4 days sitting in a truck stop wasn't my idea of fun...and with a storm coming and no chains on the truck, I kept bugging them until they bounced me over to Minnesota for a load.

Hmm... DJ told me he started here and got me looking around. Now I'm thinking about it because I got into flatbed to do OD loads. Melton, where I'm at now, doesn't do them and PGT, previous company, doesn't do a lot. So, I need to do a few months here first, then I'm probably going to give it a go.

But out of curiosity, do those of us with flatbed experience have to do the securement training?

@AZS... my bad.. I meant to type shirt... but I was looking at a hat I had lying around at the time I typed that and apparently had it on the mind. My GF tells me i'm like Dory in Finding Nemo.. I'm starting to believe her. LOL. That load had to be a PITA to tarp! I hate them odd shaped loads. And oil as a bonus... ugh.

@Pedigreed.. Thanks for the heads up bro. I will do that. I told them I didn't wanna be home but, imma be upset if that happens to me!

@ChipW... if you come with, I wanna say at least 6 months, experience you'll start at level 0 with no securement training for 3 months before your eligible for L1. L0 is basic OD loads not over like 10' or something close.. but their generally basic legal loads... cat parts, sheetrock, pipe, stuff of that nature. I only hauled 1, a huge 55k lb excavator 200 miles on a RGN.. or DD.. not sure what that really is to be honest but the neck came off, and that was to get me to level 1... now probably 3 or 4 out of 10 loads are OD. I hear in L2 you get a ton and it just goes up from there.

Their a really good company. Theres little I dislike about this place to be honest compared to my previous companies.. and even those things are tolerable. They care about you (at least thats how I feel anyways), the pay is really good, i've liked all my loads, my DM rocks, and the upper echelon are former drivers... so they at least understand what we're going through from my experience. This is all my take of course.. not all results are typical. I ranted when I first started here quite a few pages back about some petty things, but it was before I understood how to work the system. Now, I have no problems or complaints when I have requests.

    AZS and ChipW Thank this.

it was a pain but some other guys had tall ones and a couple actually fell from what I heard. you're pretty much right on about the levels though I've been a level 2 almost two months now and haven't done one oversize yet.

edit - of course soon as I say that the load I got today is in fact oversize
